We aren't afraid of him, but we respect Him, we are awed by Him, we are totally blown away by the thought of Him and His power. When the bible speaks of "fearing" God it means you need to know that God does have the power to strike you dead if that is His will. BUT, our God is also a loving God and He'd much rather bless you and save you than lose you.

I'm a Christian, and not afraid of my God. I know that mankind was created in the Image of the Living God. Any "fear" is only from the standpoint, that one would "fear" hurting or distressing a loved one.
And, after all, as anyone who has seriously prayed to God can tell you, God does have a sense of humor!

If we really accept God we shouldn't be afraid. Once you accept Him he gives you a clean slate. Its like your parents you know if you do something you shouldn't have you will have to pay the consequences. In the old testament if you broke the law you were stoned that's were this belief comes from. But when God gave us Jesus that door was sealed. We are saved by accepting Jesus Christ in to our lives so now we are saved by grace. John 3:36

God desperately wants to build a good relationship with you.God is more forgiving than your earthly parents for He has even sent His Son Jesus to die on the Cross for all your sins so that you are no longer sinful in God's sight anymore. So why should you be afraid of God?

Who says Christians are afraid of God? I consider myself Christian and I'm not afraid of him. I believe that not disrespecting him might be what you're talking about. What Christians are really afraid of is going to hell and the devil. In my opinion anyway.

when we say we are God fearing it doesn't mean that if we say something or do something wrong he will send his wrath upon us. it means that we recognize him as an all powerful God and the God of all things.and we know that he is loving and he will forgive you doesn't matter what you do as long as you repent and ask for it. it doesn't mean that God want us to fear him in a way that he can kill us at anytime he loves us and wants us to love him to but to respect him and to live unto him accordingly.

Are you asking why we (Christians) fear God or why we are scared of Him? Personally, I'm not afraid of God--and many other Christians are not either--but I do fear Him in the sense of reverence.

You're misunderstanding the word "fear" in terms of the Bible. I just looked up the word "fear" in Merriam Webster, and the 3rd definition is "3 : to have a reverential awe of ." That doesn't mean we think God is scary. It just means we think He's someone to revere...with awe. :)
