If he was crucified on a good Friday, and buried befor sunset as Jewish tradition require; and if his tomb was empty on a sunday, then it's basically 2 nights and one day.

Also if we count Friday the whole day and sunday the whole day, it makes 3 days but still it's 2 nights.

If those days were parts of days and the nights are not counted....then why jesus said that his signs are like those of jonah and we all know that jonah was in the belly of a fish for 3 entire days and 3 entire nights.

The answer is in the Hebrew way of counting time, in which a portion of a day is considered a day. By that system, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday add up to three days. I don't recall reading of three nights.

God bless.

The way the Jews count days, a small part of a day is considered a day. Therefore. Friday before sunset, Saturday, and Sunday morning are considered three days. There was no mention of nights in the Bible, but Christ was dead two nights.

One thing to consider is with Jews they count sunset as the end of one day and the beginning of the next. So he died Friday. Day 1.
The sun set and the Sabbath (Saturday) began. Day 2.
At sunset Saturday (or the Sabbath) ended and Sunday began. (3 days) In the morning is when Martha and Mary found the gravestone rolled away.

In those days, any part of a day counted as a day.

Basically, he was dead Friday, Saturday, and Sunday; each counting as one.

1+1+1=3

You're right. Biblically speaking, Jesus died around mid-afternoon on Friday, and it grew dark, so the Jews had to hurry to celebrate the Sabbath. They were not permitted to work during that time, so they hastily put away his body in storage until they had time to properly embalm it (in a cave, behind a stone, with Roman soldiers guarding the body). He was dead all day Saturday, and arose early Sunday morning. His death spanned 3 days, but it does't state there were 36 hours of his absence from his physical body.

He was crucified on a Wednesday not Friday. The Sabbath mentioned was a "high sabbath" meaning it was a different kind of sabbath. Here is an article talking about what happened on each day of the crucifixion. http://www.gnmagazine.org/issues/gn63/jesus_chronology.htm

Three days and three nights was a Jewish idiom or figure of speech. It's like if I said "I spent all day working on this problem". I don't mean that I spent 24 hours working on the problem but just most of the day.

According to Jewish tradition, if someone dies before sundown on one day, it's as if he was dead the whole day. Since He died before sundown on friday it was as if he was dead all day friday.

Similar thinking goes for His ressurection. He was raised after sunup on Sunday, therefore He was dead on Sunday.

Think of it like this...if you were born at 1 minute till midnight, no one waits till 11:59pm to celebrate it.

Dharma spoke back the first area properly. Jesus´Father, Jehovah God, is immortal. purely His Son, Jesus, died for us. So Jehovah replaced into in total administration in the course of the time Jesus replaced into useless. His Father also resurrected him from the useless. Jesus Christ is named “the firstborn from the useless.” (Col a million:18) He replaced into the first ever to be resurrected to eternal existence. And his resurrection replaced into “contained in the spirit,” to existence in heaven. (1Pe 3:18) with the exception of, he replaced into raised to a better type of existence and a better position than that which he had held contained in the heavens previous to coming to earth. He replaced into granted immortality and incorruption, which no creature contained in the flesh could have, and replaced into made “better than the heavens,” 2d purely to Jehovah God contained in the universe. (Heb 7:26; 1Ti 6:14-16; Hypertext Preprocessor 2:9-11; Ac 2:34; 1Co 15:27) His resurrection replaced into performed by Jehovah God himself.—Ac 3:15; 5:30; Ro 4:24; 10:9.

probably not two whole nights, whoever stole the body probably did so pretty far before dawn, so they wouldn't get caught. If it was a hotel, they would still have charged him 2 full nights, so ok, lets go with that. Either way, he's still dead, though.
