I'm wondering if there has ever been a battle between one submarine and another. If so, when and between whom? and from which war? They always make such a big deal of sub vs sub fights in movies, I wonder if its ever happend. Thanks

Interesting question. I'm gonna research it.
OK, Go here http://www.ussbatfish.com/ it says the BATFISH sank 3 other subs, the most of any WWII sub. Qoute; "At any rate, JANAC credited Batfish with the sinking of 3 enemy submarines. But even here, the records are confused, particularly as to the identity of the first submarine Batfish sank on February 9, 1945. Some records indicated I-41, others the RO-115, others the RO-55. To the best available information, there is general agreement about the second and third submarines: RO-112 and RO- 113."

Certainly there have been sub vs sub battles, most notably in WWII US vs Japan. A few of the US boats were credited with kills, as were other country's boats. What people forget are the "battles" between submarines during the cold war. No, there were no torpedoes launched, but there were plenty of acoustic "battles" between opposing submarines trying to gain intelligence. Battles are not necessarily all about the kill. Gaining acoustic intelligence can be just as satisfiying...

I'm pretty sure it's happened before, especially in WWII in the Atlantic. For actual records, I suggest you ask your DOD.
