I have had different advice from women and would like to get your opinion.

Some women say the first date should be a short, get to know you date at a coffee place.

Other women say the first date should be something out of the ordinary, not just dinner and a movie, so that they can really get to know you.

I suppose some women also want the standard dinner and a movie.

Which of these do you prefer? If none of the above, describe a great date for you.

I kinda like the whole dinner, walk and talk type date... movies to me arent a great first date.... go grab a bite, walk around the mall, point out things you like and dislike... kinda gives you a base on where she stands.. good luck dude

Dates are tricky..especially first dates. I've been on a few of the typical "dinner and a movie" dates and I have to say that those guys never really impressed me. Besides, going to the movies has the potential to be such an akward situation. Think about it. A dark room, sitting right next to that person..the expectations. Well, I guess for some that is a life saver. But I like talking more. I actually like getting the sense of knowing who I'm with. Short dates like the example you gave of going to a coffee shop are good, but I really dont' like coffee that much. I can't really describe the perfect date. I haven't been on it yet. I'm still looking for that guy who thinks making out in a cramped movie theatre is cliched.

I'd say a quick dinner at some place you can eat outside and then a walk through the park eatting ice cream to get to know each other. I say the more comfortable the atmosphere is for both people it would be easier to get to know each other better. I also suggest the restaurant where you can eat outside at a table because she feels more comfortable with people around, but its not as noisy and overly distracting as a bar. Also its more controlled too, because she wouldn't have one of her gfs spot her and make it a 3 way date by just butting in.

to me the best thing for the First date is to plan it early maybe around 6pm meet for coffee or dinner. Then see if there is any chemistry. If there is then you have the rest of the nite to maybe check out a movie, go to the beach, bowling or just go downtown and see what the 2 of you can fall into. By starting early you have options....if there is no chemistry, then you can say you gotta work in the morning or Doc Appointment...anything to get out of it and then your nite won't be a total waste.

well i wouldnt recommend a movie on a first date just because your sitting in the dark for 2 hours not talking...how well can you get to know someone like that?
dinner is a great idea and something fun and wild where you can get a chance to bond like indoor rock climbing, or boxing something like that if you wanna do something more relaxed maybe you could go to a coffee shop (instead of dinner or with it) and maybe go to a specialty store where you can make something together or something...or if you wanna be romantic a night on the beach walking and eating would be very nice!!!!

Dinner and a movie. The dinner gives great time for conversation, and the movie gives you a chance to get a little closer and enjoy the other persons company.

Dinner sounds good. Just dont do a movie as a first date becuase you wont be able to get to know each other if your busy watching the movie.

HONESTLY, I THINK THE MOVIES IS A BAD IDEA FOR A FIRST DATE. YOU CANT REALLY GET TO KNOW EACH OTHER IN TYPE OF ENVIRONMENT. YOUR BEST BET IS A NICE DINNER. I DONT THINK YOU SHOULD GO ALL OUT, UNLESS YOU REALLY DIGGING HER LIKE THAT. AFTER DINNER, MAYBE GO SIT IN THE PARK OR WALK ALONG THE LAKE FRONT OR SOMETHING. YOU NEED THAT ONE ON ONE TIME WITH HER SO YOU CAN FEEL HER OUT AND SHE CAN DO THE SAME.

I always liked a date where we would do something, maybe dinner, nothing fancy though, and then take a walk or a drive so we could talk and get to know each other.
