Seriously, this one has perplexed me since I was a child. Maybe I was just too smart to be suckered in and believe in an all powerful being that created us on a whim just so he could judge us later. I would like to know why you believe what you do, that way, I can form convincing arguments to get my friends to stop wasting their time and maybe spend it doing something else, like inventing or creating, instead of grovelling. Thanks.

Only a weak minded person cannot establish a relationship and a belief in a higher power therefore it is a battle of spiritual fitness. Every mind must present purity towards the word of God in order to understand the author even a small child is open minded towards GOD.

Here is your first really great chance to find a way to believe (if you want to, and you must want to have everything proven to you, or you wouldn't have bothered to ask--think about that at least). My source, when I was around 5 years old, was the original version of The New Saint Joseph Baltimore Catechism (No. 2) (Paperback) which is the latest version with just slight updates, because not much changes in the Christian Faith.

Click on the following and you will find Amazon really easy to order the paperback version, and I really, really hope you do, just for the arguments sake, whatever, and who knows you might really "see the light" for the first time because you must not have by now for your family's and your own reasons. Hey, around half of all humans, Americans, whatever, are not Christian. When I was younger, I found that really hard to believe, like why would anybody not believe in God the Father, and God the Son, Jesus Christ, and God, the Holy Ghost (called Holy Spirit nowdays), (by the way that means three persons in one God, called the Holy Trunity), (it's a matter of Faith as well), but now, at age 64, I have reached a better understanding as to why some folks, like apparently yourself, just haven't had enough information to allow them to make a decision about God that transcends what they have been brought up to believe. Oh well.

Click here, buy the inexpensive book believed by over 50 percent of people world-wide, Christians, especially Catholics, alive today. You need to at least take a look at their side. Don't you think? Go for it! See below to get started.

Some day...take a second and lie down on the grass and just really look around and if you are as smart as you think...think on what you see. If at night, you have even more to contemplate. If you think about the complexity of it all to the smallest detail--even the wind which you cannot see but know is there...then stop and think about the process of your thinking about it all. I mean what would it take for you to emerge from the point of nothingness in a chaotic system to a living, thinking entity that exists at a point in the universe under the conditions that allow you to consciously contemplate the order that has arisen from a chaos in the best case. Then you have to ask the simple but very deep question...could all this happen...could I exist and contemplate my existence as a conscious act simply by an accidental set of linked coincidences or was the order which I see planned. To me...it is a much bigger leap of faith to say it just all happened...than to have faith that it was all planned and ordered in the way it is seen...too much precision, too much coincidence...too much order for me to believe anything other than God must exist...the probabilistic impossibility is too great for anything else--if you are that smart--calculate it and you will just then begin to understand why it is not so dumb.

God didn't make us so he could condemn us (John 3:17 ) Homer Simpson once said that Christianity was, " a well meaning religion with rules that don't work out in real life." I don't believe that is what Christianity is. When Jesus came he was the most critical of those who made religion into a bunch of rules. He summed up religion as loving God and loving others. I am listening to a Christian CD that talks about how God created us to be like Him. The CD makes the point that part of that is actually creating and inventing things like you say.

Even at a superficial level, Christianity is irrational... and at a deeper level, it is quite insane.

Consider some of the 'inerrant truths' from the bible:
*  a universe in which all that exists are the earth and heaven
*  solid 'firmament' structure (the sky) seperating the earth from heaven (terrarium earth)
*  talking snakes and donkeys
*  demons chased out of people and into pigs
*  friendly spirits
*  evil spirits
*  walking on water
*  multiplying loaves and fishes
*  people raising from the dead
*  stopping the sun in its tracks
*  parting seas
*  people being bodily sucked up into heaven (which, by the way, lies on the 'other side' of the sky)
*  world-wide flood that drowned the earth to a depth of 40 feet above the tallest mountain
*  creating people from dust bunnies and ribs
*  magical tree of knowledge
*  god speaking from a burning bush
*  ritual cannibalism, by eating god in the form of a cracker.

It is quite evident that in a sane world, if someone were to go around asserting that ANY of those things represented an innate 'truth' pertaining to the nature of existence and reality, that person would end up being locked up in the 'State Farm for the Funny'. Oddly, though, MASS insanity seems to convey some sort of automatic immunity along with it, since hundreds of millions of people assert ALL of these things to be true, and nobody thinks anything of it (well... SOME of us do). Not only are these people NOT locked up, but it is considered to be bad manners... politically incorrect... 'intolerant'... to even call attention to the obvious insanity of these ideas. Yet approximately 87% of the adult population of the USA is INFECTED by what seems to be some sort of insidious brain virus, that is transmitted in the form of information.

How can this NOT be seen as a major problem... considering that this insane belief system has been DIRECTLY RESPONSIBLE for such historical aberrations as the Dark Ages and such atrocities as the Inquisition, the Salem Witch trials, the Crusades...? (the list goes on, and on, and on.)

So, how is it that the myths, superstitions, fairy tales and fantastical delusions of an ignorant bunch of Bronze Age fishermen and wandering goat herders have come to represent some kind of cosmic 'TRUTH'... without the least bit of credible evidence?

The problem is that you cannot believe if you are under the concept that you will be judged if you don't or judged if you do. This is blackmail.

Now the truth of it is, if you go by the bible, is that law was fulfilled, sin is no more and you are totally free to NOT believe.

So, Jesus says, you don't have to believe. (since he made belief a law and then fulfilled the law- that means took care of it for everyone)

We are all righteous and free and we are all one. We are the creator, not just created. God is everything around us. We are God evolving.

Well that is what I believe. You can believe whatever you want. No matter what you do - you are inseperable from God.

First..you are influenced by your family beliefs because to believe in God is to be introduced to The Holy Scriptures, Sunday School or Bible School (summer program), and bedtime prayers. From there, you make your own decision. Faith is a f unny thing, my friend. Even an Atheist will look to the Heaven's for answers and help when in trouble. I do believe that human nature seeks for a higher power no matter where you are born on this Earth and God is just there to fill your mind and heart with his existance.

Seriously, How can you believe God is not real. Look at creation as we say, or the earth and all on it. If humans cannot create life, like animals and plants, and we are the most intelligent species....then who did?

I really appreciate the way humans were made. Really, for example, God put our nose on our face, there are worse places!!! He made us just fine.

Maybe someday you will lose something and realize you need God. Why not try praying to him and ask him to convince you that he exist???
You have nothing to lose and life to gain. You do not have to even tell anyone. Best wishes.

Ok, against the normal, everyday uneducated Christians, you are correct!

However, the real story, according to the study of Bible, is that we were created to be witnesses against the testimony of Fallen Angels.

Lucifer (Heylel in the Hebrew, Lucifer is Latin and the Bible was not originally written in Latin) fell and took 1/3 of the angel with him. And no Lucifer and the fallen angels are not in the Lake of Fire, despite popular beliefs (read book of Job, the oldest book in the Bible).
After the fall, God shut down planet Earth and shrouded it in darkness. Then Lucifer made this statement, "How can a loving and caring creator, cast his creation into a place of torment and suffering."

God, sent his rebuttel, and created a creature that was lower than the Angel, aka Humans. To prove to Lucifer and the angels, that a creature lower and uglier than then, who has not seen God nor lived with him, can do what Lucifer and the Fallen Angels couldn't: return back to God and worship him. This resetting of the earth and creation of the Human race is documented in Genesis.

Adam and the woman fell just moments after they were created, which opened up the flood gates to the greatest example of Grace from God: by condemning us from the get-go, and by providing us a way out without any works from us.

You see the Gospel (defined as Good News) is that believe in Jesus Christ as your savior, your transgressions/sins are forgivine, past, present, and future sins. Why? It's nothing you did to deserve it, because he placed all the credit onto His Son Jesus. Therefore we have nothing to do with it, but enjoy the free gift.

Now, Fundamental Christians would say, "That's a ticket to sin!" Well you are damn right it's ticket to sin! And everytime we do sin and be forgiven by God, we are proving something that Lucifer and the Fallen Angels couldn't do! Which is to come back! And we can sin and be forgiven as many times as we want, and it's because of nothing we did to deserve but all the credit goes to God.

NOW that's Grace, and that's the "Good News" that christian should know. But yet we have idiots out there that can't grasp the basic christian concepts of their own faiths. Believe me, all what I said is backed up according to chapter and verse, but why bore you with those.

I have numerous reasons why I can believe that God is real...
let me share a couple with you...
The first reason I believe is my faith...
my faith that only God could have brought forth the two miracles that I have witnessed...
My faith allows me to understand that there are things that only a higher power can be in charge of in this world...
The sky...the breeze...I smile as I write this...sometimes I lose sight of things...it takes a question like this to rekindle that spark...
The second reason is my son...
at the age of 10 he was faced with a horrible situation...he had a brain tumor...it was the size of an eye ball and it was positioned right along his optic nerve...to make matters worse, his pituitary gland had grown around the tumor...there was no way he was going to be able to have the tumor removed without taking the pituitary gland...I cried when his doctor told me what was wrong...that was my baby about to have to be cut open...he never cried...he told me that he knew God had healed him...on his way into surgury, he told me not to cry and not to worry...he was so sure...he had no doubts...he knew he was going to come through this okay...14 hours later they direct me to his cubicle...he looked like my baby except for a pressure bandage on his head...two hours later, his face was so swollen that he did not look like a child at all...they literally had to disect his face from his skull...
he knew...therefore he was able to show me how to know as well...what he gave me knowledge of was God...
