Or it could have been a reference to the Aurochs which was a biblical horned wild ox so large and powerful that no one could control it.
btw, it wasn't a rhino.

any reason you insist that the hebrew word "re'em" means "unicorn"? because it means "loftiness" metaphorically and a "young wild ox" literally.
