Don't worry. If you're supposed to, you will.
Everythinghappens for a reason. This may have happened just so that you could know it was possible. Also, remember that most people's souls are pure and beautiful facets of the divine source, and that all of their neurotic crap just obscures the light it shines. On the other hand, this doesn't mean that you can put up with their crap. Would you marry a con man/prostitute if you felt their soul and it blew your mind? It may just mean you have alot to learn from them.

Well, I'm not going to say that if you can feel a person's soul then that should be your soulmate. But I will say this. Yes, you can see or sense a person's spirit. And sometimes you will find people who have a beautiful spirit and they could have so much in common with you and you could connect with them. But all that doesn't mean that they are the one. Some people are just meant to be in your life for a season. And sometimes it's the other way around. Sometimes you are menat to be in their lives and you need to help them for a while. And your soulmate doesn't have to be your husband or wife. It could be a friend. So, watch out. But your heart will let you know what's going on.

There are many things for which there is no explanation. I completely believe two minds can have an unknowable connection.

Armenian philosopher Gurdjieff says that to awaken is to connect with higher energies that are present always. This can be done through energy management. Understanding this energy, its nature, movement and relationships enables us to manage the energy required to connect with the Higher.
A group of people is necessary for a certain level of energy to appear. This requirement characterises Gurdjieff ’s work world. You need to work in a group to benefit from a larger pool of energy. At an individual level, the main effort is to accumulate energy and prevent its leakage to create the critical mass needed to build the bridge that would connect us with the Higher.
A large component of sadhana or spiritual practice is aimed at preventing leakage. For example the Yamas of Patanjali’s Yoga Sutra are all observances and attitudes that aim to prevent energies from seeping out. Gurdjieff says, one of the biggest sources of energy leaks is negative emotion. Making a habit of grumbling inwardly, wallowing in self-pity, brooding over unhappy incidents, repetitive thought loops that maintain one in a state of low-level anxiety — all contribute to negative emotion. Overcoming negative emotion is a large part of spiritual practice.
Remembering oneself and watching the moment when we receive an impression becomes the aim of the sadhaka. At that moment of witnessing, energy is transformed, adding to our energy pool the fine substance that we need to accumulate for a higher level of awareness. At that moment of observing oneself, a fundamental shift has already happened. The next time the same stimuli comes, it will come with a lower momentum and watching it and transforming the energy becomes a lot easier. So discover your negative emotions and free yourself of their mechanical vice grip.
Speaking mechanically is another large area of energy leak. Most people don’t realise how much they talk and how much of it they are not in control of. Most talk can be avoided.
Daydreaming is another significant area of leakage. We daydream a lot — especially when we are alone. We weave stories, fantasies, even fulfil our desires through daydreaming. Even the act of imagination can become a mechanical activity that takes you away from connecting with yourself.
Consuming energy unnecessarily, makes muscles tense. Tension needs energy and each time you tense a muscle needlessly, precious energy is wasted. Again, when our minds are anxious, we tense our muscles in a reflex action even though these muscles are not required. Gurdjieff says: “If a man suffers from chronic tension, then, even if he does nothing, even if he is lying down, he uses more energy than a man who spends a whole day in physical labour”.
While saving energy ensures energy accumulation that allows us to be more conscious and aware, it is also the key to use that awareness to access more energies. Impressions that we receive around us, taken in consciously, allow us to use them for our practice. Impressions from food, Gurdjieff says, is a good source of energy. When you eat, be aware and conscious of the impressions from the food — the colours, texture, aroma. Be aware of your breathing; it allows you to access finer impressions.
