You will get many answers, 1/2 will say AVG Free by Grisoft. Others will tell you ones that are not free or are free but comes with many hidden things in it, as bad as a virus itself.

I fought virus's for a year and have finally controlled them with AVG Free by http://grisoft.com . If you don't want any extra tool bars, spyware, etc., go for the AVG Free. Might I add that most windows virus's are aimed at Internet Explorer. If you change your browser to Mozilla you will be a lot safer. I have both (but only use the Mozilla/Foxfire) and can finally use my computer safely. Good Luck.

See my web site for 2 good choices and links to downloads.

Also, don't forget a good antispyware program as well... (links on web site)

Norton is NOT free, and NOT very good anyway!
