physical beauty may be a prison, i've known many women who can not seem to get past their own beauty and are obsessed with it. however, truth is transcendental. when all falls away, only truth remains and only those willing to accept total truth can transcend into higher levels, both mortally and eternally. beauty as it applies to the natural world can be transcendental as well. take for example monet's "water lillies" or van goh's "starry night". both are paintings that cause a reaction in those who gaze upon them. that reaction is transcending one's ordinary moment into something greater. music can have this quality as well. i would define a prison as something that does not allow you to evolve as a person, a static level of being. i don't think that truth and beauty are part of that.

The pursuit of truth and beauty is fundamental to human existence.
We, humans, desire to know about ourselves. We want to know where we came from, what it means to think and to feel, what the purpose is to our lives, and how deeply one person can connect to another, and how love changes our souls.
The beauty of what we experience is how we learn truth. What is it about a sunset that brings us such joy? How can we be so affected by the warm creak of an old wooden floor, the smell of a eucylaptus leaf, a painted sunflower, or a full-lipped smile?
Certainly, we could transcend these things. We could see our existence as an accident of physics, a buzzing void ruled by nothing but mathematics. To me, this seems the greater prison.

Truth is never a prison that one is too weak to transcend as it is always the source of all freedom and should never be desired to be done away with.
Beauty is shallow and imprisons the ability to often see the truth and should be appreciated at its surface, but never mistaken as truth and truth alone, for beauty can be quite deceptive, but truth has no deception.
