Electronic Vote is useless because 1 program embedded in just the last 3 seconds of closing the vote can change the Results to whatever the controllers want and DIEBOLD does not allow to see their Programs..!! So the real counting of the Votes will never be visible to the voters..!

yeah conspiracy theories aside...i can't believe its so hard to build a machine that just adds one. yet there has been case after case of machines not adding correctly, or counting backwards all of a sudden, or doing any number of things besides what they should be. ATM machines don't mess up this often, how does a voting machine?
it also amazes me that we have managed to sell our voting and turn it into a proprietary system, where even something like resetting the machine or verifying its working can not be done by those running it. would a company store their data on a system where only another company could ever retrieve it, or that could not be worked on at even the most basic level? of course not.
amazing what we did with our "democracy." i guess everything can be bought and sold.

One of the things that the United States is known for is our Constitutionally guaranteed right to vote. Not all countries allow their citizens to choose who they want to vote for. One thing that is not in our favor is that new American citizens are willing to vote and many of the Native Americans (those born and raised here) are just to lazy to vote. The electronic machines are much faster to use than a card punch system. On the electronic machines you get the chance to review your selection before you cast your vote. If you wish to change your selection you can easily do it before you cast your vote. If you mess up a card that you have to punch to make your selection you have to surrender the entire ballot set and get a new set issued to you. If you were issued six ballot cards and you messed up card number five you have to turn in the entire ballot set and get a new one issued to you. Then you have to punch every card again. Also, with the electronic machines you do not have to worry about any hanging chads. The votes can also be counted faster with the electronic machines than the punch cards.

Here's a thought....even before Electronic machines, dishonest people have managed to stuff ballot boxes, buy votes and arrange for ineligible voters to vote. In other words, cheating during an election is nothing new.

Well we could voice or opinion or not vote at all or hey just let bush make decisions from now on. You obviously have no idea how these are counted, they print out the ballots and are counted by hand. You have no idea how America operates so stop judging us if you know nothing about us.

Zack hits the problem on the head quite well.
Americans won't do anything that they can get done FOR them by someone or something else. The only thing worse than doing an American's work for them, is to make them do it themselves.
They don't care that their food is killing them and stealing their money, why would they care about something that 'might' be a problem 'sometime' in the future?

Gotta love these first two moronic answers.

I guess you people don't care about your votes not counting because some slimy bastard ridged the voting machines.

If you people can't appreciate our right to chose our leaders then move to another country.

The voting thing will work itself out. Your intolerance won't. Take a tolerance pill, and chill out for "The Flying Spaghetti Monster's" sake.

Electronic voting could be padded by technicians. Beware of the one who thinks he won.

It is not the people that are stupid . It is mandated by the state so that is the method we vote by until it is changes
