To put a tape into a computer would require a playback device. If it is a mini DV tape, tapes used in compact camcorders, you can play it on the camcorder and if there is a USB or a Firewire, 400 or 800, cable use it. If there is none present, you must use a different playback device. If there is a connection, you must also have a program that can record the tape into a computerized format(usually comes with the camcorder). If the tape is VHS, you must get a VHS playback device. A device to do the job can be found at http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=productlist&A=details&Q=&sku=250896&is=REG&addedTroughType=search

Literally, you can't put a tape into the computer (hehe joke).

Any analog videocam needs a digital converter device (hardware), before connecting to the computer (usb/firewire ports are best) and an editing or capturing software to upload/save your video to the computer. If you have a digital videocam, no need for the digital converter (and perhaps your unit comes with some editing software). There are lots of safe & free editing/burning softwares at the internet to choose from.

If you only want a simple transfer from tape to computer, without going through all the hassle, then a tv tuner device will do the trick!

Hope i cleared things up!

the tape has to be DV which then you can connect the Camera to the computer its self though ubs cords. or hook up your vcr to the computer if the tape is VHS. you will need some type of editing software for it all to work though. or just try ASK.com :)

it depends on the format. what kind of camera do you have? hopefully it's mini dv and you could go firewire. if not, your camera probably has an s-video connection and you could use it. i would not suggest converting it to cd or dvd unless it is your only option. the reason is because putting it on a disc compresses the footage and you will loose resolution when you put it into your computer.

Can't you somehow connect it via usb cable? or some sort of cable that came with that camera?
