You can get a free utility to make PDF's.

PDF995.com

You install both of the two parts of the utility.
Open Word, open the file, click Print.
Select the PDF995 utility as your printer.
Click OK and the utility will ask you for a PDF file name. Bingo. Done.

There are a few methods:

1. Using Adobe Acrobat product.
2. Using OpenOffice to export your Word doc into PDF.
3. Sign up for a free trial @ https://createpdf.adobe.com/?v=AFP to create 5 PDF for free.
4. Download a opensource program PDFCreator available at http://sourceforge.net/projects/pdfcreator/.

I recommend the free utility primoPDF from activePDF, Inc., located at: www.primopdf.com

Refer to the basic user guide after installing, of course, but basically you can convert any document or file as it works just like your computer's printer. However, instead of printing to say Epson Stylus CX5400 (my printer model), you print to primoPDF, a pop-up window comes up after hitting "OK", you specify "AnyFilename.PDF" and you're done. It then launches Adobe Reader and you can preview your newly "printed" document.

there are a few .doc to .pdf converters out there.. but none are free ... not to my knowledge at least.... BUT!! :D the awsome thing is that Word 2007 has it already built in... its pretty cool... you just type whatever you want and you can save it as a .pdf file... .... you can download the Beta Version of Microsoft Office 2007 Professional... its free.. :D

here is the link to the Office 2007 Professional Beta 2
