As a Pagan, I've experienced easier access to higher dimensions when under the influence of natural consiousness- altering substances such as cannabis , Peyote, Salvia Divinorum, etc....seems that they help to remove conditioned inhibitions regarding society's belief systems, and therefore the users are more receptive to new or different feelings and ideas, and more easily perceive the unseen energies that constantly surround us. Ideally, this can be attained through meditation and other spiritual practices, but many people don't have the self-discipline, or the knowledge of these, therefore they require a little "chemical" assistance. For example, Native American shamans have been doing this for !000's of years.

To be honest with you, smoked weed for 13 years straight. YEP and all day long. And I never got closer to God because of it, in fact I knew I was a disobident child and it made me have to hide from him. Kind of like a child who has stole a cookie from the cookie jar and wasnt able to face my daddy right while eating supper together. Not untill i came to him and asked forgiveness. In fact every time it got longer before i would pray again. I threw out many bags of weed trying to fight this problem. Only to smoke it the very next hour or day. Personally I think its a way to justify using it. How could something you had to [poision yourself with be something He would appreciate? Yep it was an endless vicious circle friends! I know !

It depends on what "god" you believe in. There may be some spirits that are more easily contacted when your mind is in an altered state, but I personally would not want to mess with them. It makes as much sense as actively dating someone who only wants to be with you as long as you are drunk!
As far as God (the Christian God) is concerned, the answer is NO. One of the gifts He gives to humans is a sound mind. How can a mind that is wasted recieve soundness? The two states are in conflict.
There are even passages in the OT, dealing with the various laws of worship, that forbid drunkenness in the temple. God wants our full attention!

I believe what you are speaking of is the enhancement of your insight, or intuition, while under the influence of THC...
Does it make you closer to God? No.
Does it increase awareness of the world around you? Yes.
By the way, it also brings you closer to cancer...

No didn't work for me. When I smoked the "wildwood weed" it only made me depressed.
After I met Jesus He helped me get over my depression and I never have had a recurrence of it in 30 years!
