I'd just use a warm damp washcloth and try to clean it that way. If the kitten is really young, I'd be hesitant to put any kind of shampoo or chemicals on it. Try the damp washcloth and see if that helps.
Good luck to you and congrats on saving a life!

Wear thick rubber gloves and be gentle but firm while holding it's front legs and back legs at the sametime and wash quick but rinse off thoroughly. Make sure you talk soothing to your kitty to help keep it calm and dry off well, especially kittens, they tend to get sick quickly from being wet. Dish liquid actually is not good nor human shampoo because it strips the natural oils from the cat. Any good vet will tell you that. Kitten shampoo specified for kittens will be great. Just read the directions. Pet shampoos can be available at any grocery store if your not close to a pet store.

LOL it isn't that hard but you will probably need two people. Use a cat shampoo (you can get these at Wally world or Target or Petco) or you can use Dawn dishwashing soap (its supposed to be good for getting rid of fleas). Just fill up the sink about half way with lukewarm water, pour in the soap as it fills so it gets soapy. Have a pitcher of water to rinse the cat. Have one person hold the cat in the water, holding it steady and holding the paws good (cats, kittens especially, hate water and baths and usually scratch a lot, try to jump out, whine and cry and make a huge fuss). Then just gently rub the soapy water on the kitten, washing off the dirt and getting her/him washed as good as possible. Don't wash the face, you don't want to get soap in their eyes. Then just rinse them off and then put them in a towel and try to dry them as best as possible before letting them go. Since they are a kitten they might get cold easily so just hold him/her for a while in the towel. You can do it at home fairly easy, but I warn you, you will get pretty wet and probably get quite a few scratches. Good luck and if you have any other kitten/cat questions just ask me.

I'd let a vet do it, but if you want to do it yourself and you are affraid of getting scratched, put it in a pillow caseand only let it's head poke out. There are special kitten shampoos, but you can use Johnson & Johnson baby shampoo. Wash, rinse, repeat if desired, dry with towel.

we had to do that with my cat so i know how u feel, lol
its funny haha
well, if u got it from the shelter, u should go to walmart or a pet store and get some flee shampoo even if it doesnt have flees
just to make sure
and then have someone hold it down while another person washes it like a dog.....if that helps
just get it wet, lather it up and follow shampoo directions, then rinse it off. make sure to stay away from claws
those hurt like a mofo, lol
good luck!

If they are young kittens baby shampoo is the best. Be real careful not to get it in their noses or mouth. Put a towel in the bottom of the sink so they have something to grip onto instead of slipping around.

You might be surprised to learn that some kittens do enjoy being bathed, but not too often.
Check with your vet if you are unsure whether to bath your kitten and what product is best suited to it's needs.

You can put a little water in the sink just to cover his paws and have one person hold him while the other one washed him with a cat shampoo from a pet store. Also Becareful not to get any soap in his eyes!!! Or mouth. Just use a dishcloth or small towel and get it slightly wet and just wash him like that!!! Happy to hear you saved the little kitty!!!!! Congrats!!!

use regular shampoo and put the kitten in a sink and bathe him/her and do not put the soap around its face as a risk of getting it into the kittens eyes and the kitten may scratch so be careful.

Make sure the kitten is old enough to be bathed. I'd suggest bringing it to a groomer but STAYING THERE with the kitten while they groom him/her.
