There are incentives to get people to join. Talk to your recruiter. He'll know best. They used to have something called Buddy Enlistment System, but it's been a long time, so not sure if it still exists. However if he can't go, when you get to BCT, you'll be assigned a battle buddy. You 2 will rely on each other for everything. This system works very well.

Good luck and congrats on your decision to join!!

When you join the army and start basic training, you'll be assigned a battle buddy. You won't be able to go anywhere without them so you don't have to bring a friend.
