Kate, a lot of people insult God Jehovah because they cannot handle the thought that htere is a creature, a spirit creature, out there that is greater than they are. It is a purely ego thing and so sad to see .
Another form of insult that I see towards God is the misconception that is perpetuated daily that God and Jesus are one and the same, when in fact, they are NOT. They are two , seperate and unequal beings. Jehovah God created Jesus Christ and loves him dearly as his firstborn creation. How could they then be equal and the same?
But to answer the original question, Yeah, I think it is an ego thing. People just don't want to admit that there is something out there that they would jsut have to accept on faith and not have a hard, physical representation of. God is not a physical being and that makes people crazy. They want something they can touch and feel and see. So if they can't, they turn to other things like money, or sex or drugs or just themselves to worship. Its sad, but true.

Seriously? To an atheist why would it be any different than insulting the Easter Bunny. And you really must know that they are probably doing it to annoy the likes of you. The real hatred is towards ignorance and blatant stupidity, but you just can't fix stupid, so what's left? Why not have a little fun with it then, eh?

Because people blame their misfortunes upon God. Atheists wouldn't insult God, because by title, they don't ackknowledge God. So the only people who would directly insult God are those who are ignorant enough to believe that God is at fault for there pain. They think that God could fix all their problems with a snap. In fact, He could do that, but that wouldn't really go with the fact that God gave us all free will, would it?

There is no one reason why people insult God. It depends on the individual. Some are afraid, some are ignorant, some are hiding from what they know is the truth. There are many reasons...
This is like asking "why do people like to play games?" Some like to do things socially, some like the fun of the game, some like to be challenged, etc...

People insult God because of what God makes people do. More people have died because of one God or another than for any other reason.
What is most horrible is knowing full well that the notion of "God" is man made. Those people died because of some belief in something that only exists in their minds.

i would say it depends on what you would call an insult. some people don't believe in the king james bible and will questions many things is says. including the life of moses, Adam and anyone else..
think of it this way, some people RIGHT NOW feel like you're insulting GOD because you didnt capitalize it...lol

I don't insult your God but I expect that you won't insult mine either. Some of you keep telling me that my Gods are all devils. You say you have to fear your God to know him. I don't have to fear my Gods. I give them respect but I don't fear them. My Gods are not devils. Just because you don't believe doesn't mean my religion is full of evil. My religion has done a lot to help everyone, not just people of my religion. If you don't want your God attacked then don't attack anyone else's Gods.

Because they are ignorant and have no respect for the One Who created them.It's really sad.I hate it when people insult God.It really makes me mad.But I LOVE GOD with all my heart and I wish others that have no respect for God could really taste and see how good the Lord really is like I have.

Because in their minds he is completely illogical and doesn't follow the laws of science. The bible to them is nothing but a fairy tale. Unless you can give scientific or archeological information proving the truth of the bible or god then they cannot and will not accept it. I hope that makes sense, I kinda ramble, I asked my sister why she didn't believe and thats what she explained.

I don't insult other people's gods and wish that they would not insult my deities. I try to show the same respect to other people that I would like for them to show to me. I am respectful and polite regardless of whether or not I agree with their beliefs.
