In all honesty you can look at in a couple different ways. Cats learn to use the litter box right off the bat. Dogs sit there and look at you eye to eye and sh*t on the floor. Cats will clean themselves. The only thing dogs clean his butt's and the butt's of other dogs. Cats have great ability to find there way home. Allot dogs find there way across town sniffing another dogs butt. You punish a cat and it will give you attitude "personality". You punish a dog it will come back for more and then repeat the same act it did to receive the first punishment. MMMMMMM.......................Well to give the dog credit. It will protect u, let u know when there is a visitor, Play with you, But the best off all it will keep your kids playing outside so you have piece and quite. So I believe that a person saying cats are stupid and dogs aren't is just fullish. But I believe cats are more superior to dogs. Sh*t even most people I know. But I guess everyone is in titled to there own opinion and I respect that.

I don't think people thinks cats are stupid, just disgusting. Face it - if you have a cat and a litterbox, that cat is digging in its own feces and then jumping in your bed, table, counter, or whatever. I know that "you cat doesn't do that", but it does. My wife and I had a cat when we first got married and I pointed this out to her. She never realized that her cat did these things but when she did, the cat went away.
If you have an "outdoor cat", your cat climbs on cars, craps in other yards other than your own, and does things that dogs would do if there was no leashlaw.
Dog owners have to be more responsible. We need to take responsibility for our pets, unlike cat owners.
No, cats aren't lesser, just some of the owners are.

Maybe it's due to the cats ignoring people's orders. The people think it's because the cats don't understand when actually it's because the cat has decided there's no point in doing what was asked.
Dogs will come when they're called. They'll do silly tricks to please you and maybe get a measly doggy treat for their effort.
Cat's won't always come when they're called. They'll come when they're good and ready or not at all if they sense there not much benefit for them to get up from their comfortable position and walk all the way to you.
I think some people don't like cats because they can't bear being ignored and want their pets to obey their commands, like good little slaves. They justify that they pay for their food and let them stay in their house, so the cats must obey them.
If you earn loyalty and adoration from a cat, you should feel honoured. I'd prefer that to blind loyalty.

Only those that prefer dogs and actually dislike cats would think this, I think. Really it depends on the animal, some cats are smarter then others, and most from time to time can be too smart for their own good!

Years ago we actually had a cat, a stray we took in, that was far above normal cat intelligence, so like people there are some idiots and there are some geniuses. ; )

The Definitive Answer:

Dogs are pack animals. Their behavior when they become our pets is pack behavior: they see their people as pack members, and imagine themselves on the lowest social rung. That's why dogs actively try to please us; they would do the same thing in the wild.

Cats are independent hunters. The live alone, unless raising kittens, and couldn't care less about what other cats...or people...are doing.

However, cats are the only animal to have self-domesticated: they deliberately moved in with us. Cows didn't; we domesticated them for our own uses. Neither did sheep, pigs, chickens, or any other domestic animal. Certainly not the dog; we tamed wild dogs, or perhaps, wolves, and trained them by taking advantage of their natural instincts.

But, cats came to us for *their* benefit, and we encouraged them to stay because they catch rodents (and, it was their idea to do so), and also because they are attractive animals.

This is why I believe that affection from a cat is far more meaningful than from a dog. The dog is programmed to bond with its pack leader; a cat is not compelled by anything other than his own fancy.

The End.

I agree with you. Cats are most definatly not stupid. They are very useful when it comes to catching mice. And they are very nice to have around. And to those people who thinks dogs are better than Cats, You are entitled to your own opinion, but you don't need to go around telling everyone how stupid and how useless they are. Cuz you don't have a clue how much fun they can be, they are tons of fun if the cat is tame.

Maybe because they have a mind of their own and wont be lead so people think that just because they don't want to be that they are too stupid to be thus thinking that they are less in my opinion that makes them better i mean come on they are smart enough to know what they want besides I'm a cat person lol

Clearly these people have never been owned by a cat before. Kitties are really too smart for their own good sometimes. Stupid -- maybe a random cat here and there, but as a whole -- NOT remotely stupid!!!

Nothing more stupid than asking a bunch of stupid cat sniffers if stupid cats are stupid.
