nothing...don't do it- For one, you'll burn out your head unit, if you don't you won't do it any justice-the subs run at a different resistance than the head unit puts out, which will cause it to overheat and maybe burn out. Also, it won't sound like a sub, it'll sound like a really big speaker trying to make high pitched sounds since there is no low-pass filter...which sounds like utter poo...so...wait till you get the $$ and get an amp.....and if you're only going to hook one sub up, make sure when you do hook it up to the amp that you run it mono. All you need for a single sub system is a two channel amp, and to run it mono(bridged) all you do is hook the positive of one channel and the negative of the other channel to the sub- if you're looking at the amp you'll see the channels are '+,-,+,-' so you hook to the positive on the far left and the negative on the far right to the positive and negative connections on your sub. Also, make sure your amp is powered with a fused power source directly run from the vehicles battery, and that it has a direct ground to the vehicles body(I use a bolt from a seat mount or something similar).

get an amp. Most amps have low pass filters built in. Subs don't need "lots of power"... Subs need the power for what thet're rated.
For example, a 200 watt RMS sub requires 200 watts RMS amp to make full use of the sub.
Also, it's best to put a sub in a box for better sound quality. But not just ANY box will do. One must be carefully calculated for the sub to sound good.
Here are some tips:

You would hook it up the same way you would hook up a regular speaker. A positive and ground wire from the back of the radio. Audio wires not power wires

plug it into the wall in your house. don't plug it into the ground post though or you will blow the sub. In the USA the electricity runs at 60Hz which is perfect for a 15" sub but a 12" will handle it too. Don't leave it plugged in too long though it will only handle it for a few seconds at a time. Have Fun

Don't whast your time, subs need two things: Lots of power, and a low pass filter (crossover).
