The vet didn't say whether is what vital or bacterial. She said the best way to treat this was symptomatically. We got a antibiotic shot and was sent home with antibiotic drops. I know I have to give her time to get better, but her behavior is so different fromt he sweet lovable cat she is. If she doesn't seem better tomorrow, the vet said she will run some blood work. but the high fever of 104 scared me....I don't like seeing my baby girl so sick :(

She has not been tested for feline luekemia but will when we go back for blood work. She also won't eat or drink but doesn't appear dehydrated. The vet did give her a shot of fluid to help with that. Also all of this started this morning, or over night. Last night she was her usual lovable self.

I am probably being impatient, I just want her well. She has had an antibiortic shot so I will just wait the next 24 hours and see how she is feeling. Her name is "Manew" and she was born the week of Hurricane katrina, yes I live in the New Orleans Metro area. So I rescued her and it was the best thing I have ever done. She has the sweetest dispostion. She is a gray and white tabby, I also have a black persian, although he looks "chocolate" to me. His name is "jasper" and he isn't as lovable. Although he will let you pet him when he wants attention but then gives you this look like "Ok, enough already I am outta here!" He is very independent, but my little Manew has stolen my heart and I just want my sweety back.......keep her in your thoughts and prayers please. Thanks for all the answers :)

Infection is usually the cause of fever. Viral or bacterial?

How high is the fever? Cats can have a normal temp of up to 102.5 and we dont usually get concerned about decreasing the temp unless its over 105.5. Is this an indoor cat? If you have another cat in the house, you may want to look over the body to make sure their is no bite wounds that have healed over and caused an abcess. Also, isolate the sick cat in a room with its own litter box so you can monitor the frequency and appearence of it urine to check for infection.

Becareful and watch for Pneumonia---
WE had this scare and that was our cats 1st symptom--it can come on very fast with filled lungs and a very serious illness=
Watch for signs-like nasal discharge-clear or colored- Hot to the touch ears- no energy in your cat, and not simply acting normally-
Cats have no way of sweating the fever out--and may pant---
My vet said many cats get this when temps fluctuate-=like with air-conditioning.
Watch your pet closely--It may need a round of antibiotics-and some monitoring-
Hope it gets well soon-
