Keep your skin as cool as possible. Get some Aveeno Oatmeal Bath stuff and soak for as long as you can in a cool bath. (Very hot water will temporarily relieve the itching but makes the itch come back much worse and also makes the rash worse - I've done that). If the rash is appearing in areas that you know did not come in contact with the urushiol oil you may have a systemic reaction. You may need to see the doctor for a prednisone prescription or shot. Both really help to make the rash go away much quicker. Calamine works very well at drying up the ooze. I always that calamine was junk because it never did anything for mosquito bites - but it is very effective for poison ivy. So - if you are in the same time zone I am - get yourself to a late night drug store - get the Aveeno and Calamine - and also some generic Benadryl which is called diphenhydramine - it works just as well and a lot cheaper. Take the diphenhydramine, soak in a warm tub with the Aveeno until the water is freezing - then coat yourself in Calamine until the morning when you can call your doctor ASAP. Hopefully you can call in sick tomorrow as well. Good luck and don't scratch!
PS - If you have any signs of swelling - especially around the eyes or difficulty breathing - it is time to head to your ER. (had that happen too)

Caladryl works well, calamine will work and is cheaper(the itching will still be there) but it draws the itch causing oils out. I've also heard that oatmeal works, but I haven't tried it. The main thing for you is to clean everything related to where you got that stuff and bath right away. If you scratch immediatly wash your hands. This stuff can spread. Get it clean, get it coated, and leave it alone. A few days from now you'll be a more vigilant hiker. Take pictures, this is a great life event.
Good luck.

Bactine liquid spray is made for the relief of itching from Poison Ivy, bug bites, cuts, sunburn etc. It is an antiseptic and has an anesthetic for the itching and pain. Just spray it on!

you can try over the counter benadryl cream or oral benadryl tablets: two 25mg tablets every 6 hours-no more than 6 in 24 hours.

but the best thing it sounds like for you situation would be to go see your physician to get a prescription for solumedrol or if it's really bad-antibiotics to treat the reaction.

take warm showers and do not apply an perfumed lotions, ointments or sprays to your body-it will irritate the rash and make it worse. i wouldn't wait more than 24 hours to be seen.

It may be due to fungal infection. Take one tablet Fluconazole/150mg once a week for 4 weeks and your itching will ease. Avoid sour and spicy stuffs. Add 5g camphor in 50ml coconut oil and apply on the affected parts. Take care and be in good health.

Caladryl lotion is the BEST for poison ivy. It is a mix of benedryl and calamine lotion. It makes you look like a pink bunny tho.

I never tried the clear stuff...
