The worship of Mother and Son probably began in ancient Babylon under the names Semiramis and Bacchus. From Babylon the idea spread to Egypt, who called the mother and son Isis and Osiris; in India, Isi and Iswara; Rome, Fortuna and Jupiter-puer, and so on.

The Bible was written over a period of thousands of years, so one cannot say with confidence that this or that ancient writing predates biblical writing. In the 3rd chapter of the biblical Book of Genesis, the birth of the Savior is prophesied. The Western image of Madonna and Child is a tradition that is carried on within Catholicism today but not accepted among non-Catholic Christians.

Why does it make you so mad that people believe in the Bible. What difference does it make if they are all just myths to you. It gives me a purpose and a focus for my life and decisions. I would like that to be respected even if you do not agree. This is a place where people are going to express ideas about spirituality and religion. What is your religion and your idea of spirituality. Have you found something that works for you.
