I used to live in Brazil... I guess it's not the safest country in south america =) Anyway 5 years ago I met my boyfriend through internet and here I am living in Canada with him after 3 years dating with a huge distance.

I am assuming you're a responsible adult. You could do it, but you should go prepared for the fact that anything and everything could go wrong. Like the moment you lay eyes on them you suddenly realize you don't like them at all. It could happen. Resign yourself to the fact that the money you'd pay for the trip could be a total waste, and draw up an alternative gameplan for your trip if things go wrong.
Seems like a better option would be to install a webcam and use it to talk to each other online. After that each of you could make a video about yourself, your hometown, your family and friends and mail it to your online pal. That would give each of you a better idea of who you were and if you really wanted to meet in person.

Is there anything wrong with it, not really. Just make sure you know who you are meeting. And know the person well enough online before doing that.
That includes talking with a voice chat system, on the phone, video chat and maybe even exchanging snail mail beforehand, it all depends on how comfortable you two are with meeting one another.

yeah, cause u never know what is real and who really just wants to gut you and wear all of your skin like a fur coat. Rub u'r eye balls to see what is inside of them. Or who likes to cut u untill you are completely out of blood. or cook you like a lobster. But on the othere hand, what r u doing in a week. : )
