Or is the hearing just impaired? It's so sad to see dogs with ears cut or with tails docked. :(

The short ear crop used on pit bulls impairs their hearing, as there is no way for them to tell the direction of the sound, and the breeze will mess up the sound.
However, it is thought that the Doberman longer crop increases their sense of hearing, as there is no flap to filter or muffle the sound, and the ears are still long enough to guard against breeze or airflow.

I dont think the hearing ability is impaired but I do know that the ability to funnel the sound into the ear is impaired and in fact dogs with cropped ears have trouble determining from which direction a sound comes from. I think it is wrong and sad too, because dogs should be accepted the way they are born not mutilated to suit a fashion or fad....Dogs are not accesories, they are living creatures, sadly though society accepts many forms of ritualized mutilation such as tail docking, declawing cats, circumcision in humans, etc etc.

If you are talking about the ears being cropped, of course they are still able to hear. The ear leather is cut. Nothing is done to the inside of the dog's ear.

Of course it will be able to hear.

Same as if you had your ears cut off.

If it has it's tail docked, it can still get some tail.

Yes it will because you dont remove whats inside the ear, but it wont be able to "focuse" in on what it hears.

A dog's hearing is not affected by having its ears cropped (they aren't totally removed).

If you mean ears cropped yes even if the whole ear flap is gone it still has it's ear canal just like if you were to loose your ear

well, unless you cut out its whole ear canal, ear drum, etc. then it wont be able to hear, but i hear that tail docking is going to be banned, i really hope it does.

my lab mix just had 11 puppies three weeks ago and one them lost an ear flap during birth(mom chewed it off when eating the birth sack). it doesn't appear to be a problem, the pup seems to be able to hear just fine.
