My sister just found out that she is pregnant and she doesnt have any of her other children, I want another child but I cant have any more, she's willing to let me have the child, but can I do that without having to go to court? Can we just write up and agreement and get it notarized stating that I will raise the child as my own and take full responsibility for the child?

I would suggest you talk to a lawyer if you cannot afford one I would suggest you get some free counsel. You have to be careful with that situation. I have had family members offer their children to us and as much as I want a child We couldn't do it. Too much drama could accrue, especially if you see your sister often. But you know your sister best. Good luck and god bless you and your family.

You can get legal guardiansship of the child, and if she gives up her rights as a parent she can not take the child away from you. But I'm afraid that you will have to go to court for this. Or you could take a chance and just bring her up with your sisters consent and hope that thru the years she won't want you to give her up. Good luck, if you do get her please shower the child in love because he/she is a gift from God. Any paperwork between you and your sister will not hold up in court unless it is signed by a judge

You can have that written up by any lawyer but it will not be a binding contract if she decides in a few years that she has changed her mind. Do it right and get a legal adoption in order. This is for not only for your protection but for the protection of the child.

I'm no lawyer but I would not do anything like that without looking into all the legal aspects. Get a lawyer and do it the right way or you'll end up in jail.
