My beagle was playing in the surf at the ocean yesterday and he seems to have hurt his tail. He is quiet today and yelps if his tail is touched. He is favoring it and does not wag it as usual. There is no broken skin and i cant feel anything odd on his tail but dont know what to do to help him feel better. Is this something that I need to take him to the vet about? What if anything can i do now to help him feel better?

It sounds like he has what is knows as "cold water tail"

This is something that sometimes after a dog has been bathed or swimming in cold water and catches a chill. It will heal itself within a few days. Beagles are one of the breeds commonly affected, but I've had it happen with my bassets too.

If he is very sore, ask your vet about giving him some buffered aspirin.

It's best not to give him medicine without asking your vet. It's possible he sprained his tail or even broke it. Take him to the vets tomorrow for a check up and possibly an xray. The vet will give you the right pain medication for him. If he's very uncomfortable, you may want to take him into the emergency vet tonight.

I would take him to a vet just in case he has broken his tail. Even if he has there may not be anything they can do for him except give him something to lessen the pain.

Get him to the vet. Yes, a dog can break his tail. He can also do nerve damage if it's left untreated. At the very least, it will need to be "set". Get him the medical attention he needs.

There are some issues you're able to do. First, you will possibly desire to augment her education. on each and every occasion she is going close to the wires, you will possibly desire to tell her "no" sharply. 2nd, there's a product in the puppy shops pronounced as "bitter Apple" which tastes fairly undesirable to canines. Spray slightly on a twine. canines truthfully have a keen experience of scent. as quickly as she smells the bitter apple and co-workers the scent with the wires, she will have the skill to not choose to chew on them. ultimately, canines often chew whilst they are bored. Get her a "busy bone" that's a hollowed out bone. you may placed peanut butter or yet another take care of in it. Your canine will might desire to artwork to get out the take care of and that would distract her long sufficient to stay faraway from the wires. the mixture might desire to help. If those do not artwork, safeguard her in a close-by that would not have wires around. Her protection is #a million. good success to you the two!
