My car broke down in the middle of the road and a man jumped my car and helped me get it to the autoshop. I was very grateful so i paid him about $10. I'm now having regrets thinking that i should have paid him more. What do you think?

I don't think so. I don't believe the man stopped with any intentions of making extra money. If he didn't want to help, he wouldn't have stopped. It was very kind of you to do that for him, and I'm sure he really appreciated the gesture.

He probably was not expecting payment. In a case like this, if you have money - I would have given him $50 to $100 - depending on how far the gas station was. Anything less than that I think is kind of cheap. If all you had was $10 I would have kept the money. He stopped to help someone in need and did what he could to make the world a better place. In the future if you don't have money I would just send a thank you card or something like that - or maybe buy him a meal if you were not that hard up. You can also pay this man back by helping out someone in need. You are a woman and I would not reccomend that you stop your car to help strangers - but you could at least do something like call the cops for someone in need or maybe write to a soldier in Iraq or help out at a charity. Maybe send the man a note saying that you are doing this random act of kindness because he inspired you to do it. Now that would probably make his day!

anyone that would stop and help a person in this day and time, wasn't doing it for the money. Seems like that was just a good person and they just took the money as not to insult you. Don't worry about it, his payment now is the pure satisfaction of helping someone in need. His payment later will be whatever God decides to bestow upon him for looking out for his fellow man.

I don't think you should have paid him anything!!!

He was doing you a favor, and not a commercial opportunity..
If it was me, I would be insulted that you offer any money at all...

Kindness is not about money..you should just thank him profusely...

Since he stopped of his own volition and had no expectation of getting paid anything is good.

most (good) people would do that just to be nice and don't expect any kind of payment.

No, he did it because he is a good person. That's all.
