Has any one climbed MTwhitney in california .
If so how dificult would you rate it for a first time climber

First time climber, huh? First time at altitude as well? The climb is not technical by any means, but you have to be in decent shape. Remember, you are climbing 6,000 feet -- many people underestimate it, get fatigued, or get AMS and end up in trouble. If you haven't climbed much, I would opt for the 2 day option instead of the one-day pull. Take the standard route and not the mountaineer's route. Spend a night at the trailhead to acclimatize. Remember to get your permit!

my dad has climbed it..many times..its fairly easy
