Don't use your real personal information on the internet. If you receive any email that tell you to log on to your bank account or credit card account, never do so. You are much safer just type in the path yourself. The link they provide will redirect you to a clone page of that site and they will record your password if you type it. It is best not to send your important information over any messanger. Install virus scan, and scan often during the night time.

I personally have never given out my credit/debit card numbers online at all. I also never give anyone questionable my social security number. Our family shreads everything with any info on it - even grocery receipts, and mail that only contains one of our names. We are all careful when using credit/debit/store cards, pin numbers, and ATM machines - to make certain that no one is watching. We also rarely go to an ATM alone at night (at least two of us go - one remains in car while other does transaction - cell phone in hand).
