I understand that there is a concept, "the age of accountablity", meaning that until you reach an age where you can make a choice concerning your relation to Christ, you go straight to heaven if you die. What is the scriptual/Biblical basis for this?

Exodus 30:14 Every one that passeth among them that are numbered, from twenty years old and above, shall give an offering unto the LORD.
This might be the verse you are looking for. I do believe that innocent children are in heaven...

I'm not a Christian, but I claimed to be one at one point. Yes, the age of accountability seems a tempting solution, but if certain fundamental types can claim that some native stuck in the middle of a jungle having never heard the gospel can go to hell, then why not a child, preborn or not?

According to fundamental Christianity we inherit original sin therefore we deserve hell save that of the blood of Christ. Oh yeah, and confessing with our lips that Jesus Christ is our Lord and savior. And let's not forget the fruits of the spirit which is the proof of our salvation.

Logically one could see my point. But religion is not always about logic. If it makes you feel better to believe that young children, preborns, etc, go to heaven, then by all mean please do. Personally I think the concept of eternal hell, or heaven for that matter, is flawed.

Sure I believe in a higher power, and that temporal hells and heavens exist. But we were also given freewill and as long as we have it we will always be able to fall, or grow closer to God for all of eternity. So which way do you chose to go at this exact moment? In a sense it is the only moment that truly is real.

No Biblical basis--atleast no New Testament basis as long as you
believe in the original sin. Every human being inherits the original sin
and only can be saved by being baptized--according to Christianity.
So a child who dies un-baptized goes to hell.
In Islam--every human being is born sinless(there is no original sin--God forgave Adam after he repented and God can do that) but
later he becomes a Hindu, Christian, Atheist etc. He will be held accounted for what he earned in his lifetime--not for what he never did. So, In Islam a child born in a pagan family will go to heaven if
he/she dies at that state.

The only think that comes to mind (without looking up in the concordance), is that Jesus LOVED all the children he came in contact with. JEsus taught that we should all have the faith of children, adn we should all live our lives like them. Other than that, i am short for words. I have been taught that, and believe it, because it makes sense, but i guess I have not read anything on the subject. Excellent question.

God bless, and good luck.

I don't think so. I depends on the person who has authority over the child - usually the parents (the one that name the child). That's why some Christian practise baby baptism. where the baby is given a Christian name.

Scripture : God bring animals to Adam to name then and He had authority and dominion over the animals (before Adam gave this authority to Satan - Fall of man)

+So don't let other people name your child. You should have dominion over your own child.

Who will be greatest in the kingdom of heaven??
The least of all children ( the smallest the most in need of him) the greatest shall be. Yes they go to heaven and they sit very close to him.

I am not quite that sure myself because when we die we go to sleep; in the Lord. For scripture mentions that we shall not all sleep. If we went to heaven upon death we would be alive and not sleeping. Jesus spoke of persons being asleep. He even said to the one dying thief today you will be with me in Paradise;

NOT

in heaven.

There is no passage in the Bible that states an actual age of accountability, however I believe that this may be where the tradition of baptizing babies came into play, to seal them to God.
