Any religion which claims that good, helpful decent people go to eternal pain when they die is just plain silly.

"it seems rediculous that even a mass murder who repent and accepted god could go to heaven yet no matter how good i live my life i would still end up id hell. if that is the case then it would make me want to refuse jesus even more." What you just stated is true, but that shows the mercy of God, that EVEN a terrible man, like a mass murderer can go to heavan... all he has to do is sincerely accept Jesus into his life, and turn his life around. Wouldn't you think it would be even easier for YOU to do it? if ur already a " loving, giveing, careing, compasionate person," You wouldn't have much to change about yourself, once you accepted Christ. Maybe some habits here and there, because you know ,no bodys perfect, but thats it. You have the christian qualities, all you need is Jesus in your LIFE! I hope you really think about this, its the most important desicion of your life....
I will pray for you,

I just answered this to another person about five minutes ago. This is a copy of that answer. Not original but still appropriate:
There are many different beliefs on that subject. Notice that I said BELIEFS, not 100% true absolute knowledge. No one really knows for sure no matter what they tell you. Myself, I follow a Buddhist path, so I feel my education will continue in some form.
I'd like to offer two pieces of advice here. First, don't let anyone convince you that you'll spend "Eternity in Hell" if you don't follow their religion. As a real world example, I like to compare that to a judge sentencing you to life in prison for jaywalking.
Second, concentrate on the "Here and Now" rather than the "Hereafter". Life can only take place in the present, let the future take care of itself. You'll be much happier. Peace.

If you don't believe in God, then you shouldn't worry, but the truth is, there is a God in most relgions and Christians believe in the real one with a real Son who proved miracles happen. Being good doesn't mean faith or that you really care for someone. Maybe you're just being good so you don't get involved in trouble or because it's easier for you. I'm good too, but I will get to Heaven through faith and carrying out the Lord's acts. I pray that you seek Christianity and if not now, then after the rapture so God will rescue your soul when you either die or God comes back again after the rapture.

There's only two places your soul goes after death. One is to heaven and the other is to hell, there is no inbetween. Jesus said that He is the way and the truth and the life and only through Him can we get to heaven. So accepting Jesus is the way to heaven. The other choice is to reject Jesus and there is no polite way to say it other than you will spend eternity in hell. We just can't be good enough on our own. There is no way. I hope you choose to follow Jesus and that one day I will see you in heaven. I am a Christian and have been for a long time. I have attended church for years and am a Deacon in my church. But these things alone will not get me into heaven. My belief in God is the only thing that will get me into heaven. I am a sinner. I don't deny that and always will be as long as I am in this sinful world. We are born that way. And the wages of sin is death or eternal separation from God. Jesus' blood sacrifice is the only thing that can make us worthy to be in heaven.

I won't sugarcoat the answer, but I will explain it.
If you die without Christ, yes, you go to hell. And later to the lake of fire after judgment.
But why? Haven't you been loving, giving, etc? Here-in lies the problem. Our own motivation for being caring is due to the fact that we wish for reward. This reward may take several forms. Sometimes it is of a material or social nature. Sometimes it is for our own satisfaction, but we all seek what is good for our end.
God tells us in Romans 3 that there is none righteous, no one that seeks God. All that we bring before God as good works are as filthy rags to him, because he is so infinitely perfect. Worse still, in attempting to be righteous apart from God, we are telling God we don't need him, and that we can do things on our own. That makes even our good deeds an insult to him. He is the author of everything good. If we do something good, it is a result of his grace acting through us, not because we are good in and of ourselves.
We can't earn heaven. Our debt for our sins is too great. However, Christ provided a way out of sin for us. Being God, he sacrificed himself for our transgressions against us, even our well-intending transgressions. Faith in Christ is what gives us heaven, not what we do.
I might add here as a note, that because you have faith, it doesn't mean you stop doing good things, it means you glorify God by doing good things and giving credit to him who is worthy of the credit.

when we leave our physical bodies, the part of us that makes us special, our soul - the part of us where our personality, memories, emotions and so forth all orginate from, move on.
Like this life, we have plenty of choices in the next one - you can opt to go back to God (has nothing to do with what religion you are), reincarnate and come back to this physical plane or even just hang around and haunt for a while.
Your loved ones that have passed before you will meet you on the next plane of existence and help you to make the decision that is right for you. So live this life fully like you won't be dying til your a hundred.

Unfortunatly, hell. Even though you don't beleive in it. From a christian perspective, anyone who has not accepted Jesus Christ into thier heart does not have their sins taken care of. Therefore, the tiniest sin in the world will cause you to go to hell. But that's from our perspective. It's always a good idea to go to a church a few times and see what the pastor has to say. Prefferably evangelical, as that is what I am. If you don't like breaking your back just to hear a sermon, don't go to a catholic church.

If you believe in the christian doctrine as I do the answer is Hell. I have struggled with that my whole life. Someone once said that God created Hell because if he didn't we would have no reason to be saved. He had to give us a chose and by not choosing you automatically choose Hell.

the lake of fire, most people will say hell
God will judge you according to the 10 Commandments. Look them over and give serious thought to whether you have kept them. Remember, a white lie is still a lie.
