Absolutely -- and back in my teen years, McDonald's was the hip place to work -- and friends verified the Thousand Island dressing as the "special" sauce.

No, it isn't. This is a good recipe to make the special sauce.
1 cup Miracle whip
1/2 cup relish
1/3 cup Kraft creamy French dressing (orange, not red)
1 Tablespoon sugar
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon dry minced onion
Stir together and chill.

If it is thousand island dressing, there is something else added to it. It's not just salad dressing.

My brother worked at McD's. He says it comes in a large bag marked, "Special Sauce." Does that answer your question?

No it is not 1000 island dressing. It it a mixture of mayonnaise, mustard, ketchup and relish. then seasoned with paprika, salt, and spices.

to me, it tastes more like a mix of thousand island (not much of that) with Kraft Sandwich Spread.
