First of all, all religions teach basically the same things. Be good to others, and don't intentionally hurt anyone else (yes I paraphrased that). Human interpretation can be blamed for everything from terrorist attacks to the killing of people who work in abortion clinics. Religion was created by humans as a means of explaining the unknown, maitaining a form of order, and establishing a hierarchy. As people become more realistic, and less superstitious, they'll come to realize that only some aspects (meaning gods themselves) are wrong. Teaching compassion, regardless of the name of the god, is not a wrong thing though.

First, let's define religion? Webster dictionary defines religion as something one does on a ritual basis. You could take a shower three times a day, every day, in the third week of the month, and you too would have your own religion. A way of life, is something different, it is more depth to christianity than the natural eye has seen. The very aspect of thought that a Surpreme Being is with me, yet I haven't seen Him yet, far expands the mind, that religion can't even keep up with. Then, God Almighty is Creator of all that is, (except wrong or evil), just look at your self and think there has to be someone greater than me, who could create all of this and give mankind a intellect, and with this intellect, we've traveled to other planets, built great ships that travel through the air and all this Surpreme Being wants is for us to believe in Him and worship Him. How can thousands of religions through time be wrong and yours is right? You will have to have faith in my God to understand about the christian walk, for the first step is you have to believe that He is. Charles r.

I believe each of the major religions have a genuine core set of truths within them. Fundamentalists, like you say, think their path is the only hard and set way. However, Buddhists, Hindus, Jainists, Taoists, Christians, Jews, and Muslims have many things in common. Love, brotherhood, treating your neighbor like yourself...these are essential principles in all spiritual practices. It's exactly what all the great teachers have emphasized througout time, yet few people really put them into practice.

So why are there so many worried extremists? Because humanity is coming to the end of one age and entering a new age - the age of Aquarius. The fundamentalists are scared of what they don't know or understand. This new time will involve much more cooperation and synthesis. You can see it already in the mass movements of people around the world, working for peace and standing up for unity rather than the divide and rule methods of our current greedy politicians. Very hopeful indeed.

Religions are like any empire. They start, they rise, they peak, and they wither, eventually fading into history or elements of them being reused for new ones.

Empires and religions are only temporary but arrogantly and idiotically think they will last forever. Just look at American stupidity after the Cold War: "It's the end of history" was their attitude, as if the political map in 1990 would remain forever. The cult of christianity thought it would dominate the world forever and is petrified of the fact that the cult of islam will supercede it within a century.

Because we don't live in a universe of time travel or random warp-holes. Science explains things only happen in one way. You can't have souls re-incarnating and dying only once, and living as ghosts. That's ridiculous! God planned the world, created it in 7,000 years (or Days to Him) and watched for almost 7,000 more years. The great Flood killed all dinosaurs except Nessie and all artic creatures and fish lived without boarding the Ark. Pangea was torn apart by the Great Flood and made the world today. There's no way a random explosion could create a universe so perfect. We've proved as humans chaos does not create anything good or perfect.

better start sorting through them instead of being passive R U.

of those thousands 99% of them are completely absurd. dont believe me? get a book. check out their doctorines.

what religions could we considor safe to throw out? religions that have more than one God?

that eliminates Greek religions, Hinduism, American Indian beliefs, and Pagans.

what about the zillions of tribal religions (which may or may not have various Gods)? among them you will be lucky if you find one that doesnt have something which is (as a modern internet-using person) undebatebly wrong in its doctorine.

now what else can we use to narrow things down? how about we get rid of religions with insane views of reality? there goes Buddhism. dont believe me? grab a book and learn a little about Buddhism. I suggest you pay special attention to their views on ontology.

okay... how about Egyptians? well theyre all dead. so i think thats a safe one to rule out.

check out the mormon religion. just check it out. its so crazy that its actually funny.

now lets just skip all the bologna of examining the other thousand religions out there.

youre left with Judaism, Christianity, and Islam.

there are a million versions of christianity. for the sake of this argument lets just include all of them in the one category, christianity.

Islam, first off there are different versions of islam also. but lets go straight to the source and cut off its head. Muhammad, recieved instructions from God via the angel Gabriel when he was alone in a cave. Does that sound just a tiny bit fishy to you? Okay now lets look at the doctorine. It says to kill everyone who doesnt submit to Islam. Does that sound like something God would say to you? That sounds pretty wicked to me. and it is NOT a message of love or peace.

and now youve got Judaism. Gods chosen people. the real God btw. Christians and Jews both agree on the old testament so there is no conflict there. now the jews dont believe Jesus Christ was the Messiah. the christians of course do. and for factual proof all i can really say is that there is significant evidence that Jesus Christ was an actual man who walked the earth.

so now ive narrowed it down from thousands of religions to just two. and from this point you have to pick up your bible and read for yourself. find out what you believe. but Jesus Christ was a real man who actually did walk the earth. and i think if he was a real man, he must have done some amazing things to create such a buzz. if he was a real man, he must have worked all those miracles in the new testament.

you probably didnt even read all that did you? dont look at the thousands of religions that there are and just automaticly decide that since there are so many they all must be wrong. the devil works in religion and he is trying to stir up as much confusion as he can. and look how good of a job he has done. agreed?

if you dont believe me then start looking at each one of those religions on your own and make your own decision. at least accept the possibility that your soul could be at risk. ..the following website will explain any religion you can think of. it will do a much better job than i can.

There's over 2,500 religions in the world and all of them think they are right!! Jehovahs Witnesses think there's the only one that is right and yet have many false prophesies that failed like 1914! Stick to what the bible says and not what a religion teaches. The bible teaches the truth and religion teaches distortions and manmade doctrines.

No one religion is better then the other, though different in the way things are viewed and seen, most of all religions, all believe in one God, some just may call him by another name.

I agree. But it is possible to have two opposing beliefs and both be right. Its all a matter of perception. Just because two people believe in two different things, doesnt mean one has to be wrong. They could just be approaching the same place by going on different paths. One shouldnt judge anothers beliefs just because their own beliefs are different.

It's the law of non contradiction. Two opposing statements cannot both be true.

John 14:6 Jesus said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

Either Jesus was lying, or He is the only true way.
