Does it make me look stupid that I spend every waking moment talking about something I claim to not care about nor believe in?

It's like an obsession with me and I think I need to just go to church and acknowledge that I can't disprove God or religion after months of trying.

I'd love to be saved but my tainted homosexuality prevents me. Thats why I spend all day trying to deny my faith.

well me as a christian say that if you are looking or checking out different religions that means that god is trying to tell you that you need to start following him.Because you WILL go to hell.(If you dont beleive in him.)

Maybe you should try praying. God will help you if you ask. You are not a hypocrite just because you research something you don't necessarily believe, hypocrisy is when you say one thing and do another. I encourage you and anyone who has questions to learn and consider as much as they can, for a lot might be hanging in the balance if God truly is there (which I believe with all my heart but can not prove to you, of course). If not, you haven't lost a thing.

No it doesnt make you a hypocrite.. If you really dont believe then all you are doing is researching something..
I dont believe in god, yet I am currently reading the bible and I study it so I have a better understanding of it.. I dont want to make an opinion on something that I know nothing about!
Since reading the!
Just because you dont believe in something doesnt mean you should cut all thoughts about it out.. the only way to learn about something is to research it, and the only way to really have a strong opinion on something is know what your talking about!

I do not think u look stupid...on th contrary, I think you have done a tremendous job to get thus far. I just think that it is just time for you to make up your mind...I would assume you have done enough research to know what is truth and what's not. Now it is time to put what you have learnt to action.

I would not go to church just because I have lost out against God, but I would advise you, if that is the way you feel, that you begin to have a far more cheerful and happy approach towards finding God. That is what makes your journey special; Is that you have found Him yourself and recognised Him. Many people go through life thinking they know God and yet are too far away from Him, coz they never actively sought Him. Where as you, you have actively searched and found what you never knew you were looking for...Well done!

Good luck my friend, and May God bless you and guide you to your salvation. Pray for me too.

Does studying the law all the time mean that a lawyer is a criminal?

Maybe that was a bad example.

The arguments of the religious are based on ignorance and by making assumptions and false accusations against those they disagree with. The arguments of atheists are based on evidence. Studying the bile - oops, bible - and other cultic texts provides ammunition for arguments. Knowing the views of one's opponents can only makes one's argument stronger.

You don't have to disprove God, you just have to realize that the Theory of God holds no water. GOD THEORY - The accumulated myths and superstitions of your ancestors which have been dogmatized, institutionalized and mounded into the colossal pile of crap they call ultimate truth. Now, you know you're better than that.

Not at all. But if you are studying may I suggest two really good books? Both by Josh McDowell---the first is "EVIDENCE that DEMANDS a VERDICT!" and the other is MORE EVIDENCE THAT DEMANDS A VERDICT! I think they will both help with your research. Mr. McDowell tried to prove God didn't exist and that Jesus is NOT who He said He (Jesus) was. You should read the books.

Absolutely NOT. What your doing is looking for CONCRETE PROOF of SOMETHING, EVEN IF ITS NOTHING! Nothing wrong with that.

Also, don't forget, the next time someone knocks on your door to ask them questions (after all, Jesus himself knocked on doors) so there's nothing wrong with that. ALSO, MAKE SURE THEY ANSWER YOU FROM THE BIBLE, and not from "personal" opinion, after all, "opinions are like "aholes", their all different and we all know what "their" full of", so either have them "prove" their points from scripture or just, well, shut the door.

You're one of those that straddle the fence.

I research religion all the time (I'm agnostic) but it does nothing but justify my beliefs. It also makes me glad that I'm not part of those religions.

It just seems you're doing research and are perhaps at least interested in religion. No problem in that.
