Like, is it saying that God's name is God or my name is God it just confuses me.

The literal translation of Samuel is God Heard ('Shama', heard; 'El', god), owing to Samuel 1:20, where Hannah names her son in memory of her requesting a child from God and God listening.

Samuel could mean either "name of God" or "God has heard". It is a Hebrew name. The story is that Samuel's mother, Hannah, was unable to get pregant. So she asked God for a son and God answered her prayer. She named her son "Samuel" for God had heard her prayer. Samuel when on to become a great man of God. Read about it in the Bible . . . the books of Samuel, of course.
