Why? It's god, why does it {need} anything? What kind of god needs attention. That's got to be the pinicale of arrogance, eh?

I agree. God does not need anything from us nor anything else. There is nothing that God cannot be, do or have, except to not be.

To believe in a God who needs justice, adoration, love, or has human attributes such as jealousy and anger belittles the magnitude of God's existence.

I do not believe that God is a being, as such, but rather the process of life itself.

Of course he needs it. That's why he made us. The entire purpose in our existance was to love him. But the reason things are the way they are is because he didn't want to force us to love him. He put us here and gave us all control over our lives so that we could CHOOSE to love him. That makes it infinitely more special to him. But that's the difficult part for people to do.

Arrogance by definition means that you DON'T need love. You think you don't need ANYTHING. I would say God can be as arrogant as he pleases, but he is not. How can a God be arrogant when he works with each and every one of us...all 6.5 billion. Most of us don't see him working with us or speaking to us(something I've had much trouble with) but he's always there.

No, it is us who need to love God. Our very souls are made up of that need. And by connecting with Him through that pure love we will be bound together in a loving relationship with Him.
And do you think it is also the pinnacle of arrogance that you or anyone with a heart wants or needs love?? Its is our very nature to love. God made man in His own image. I can at least safely say that I don't hold a higher position then God, so that means if I have relationships and feelings that the Lord must have the highest degree of love and relationships and feelings.
So no, its not arrogance at all. It is the only hope and wealth that we can pray to have....to love Him--to be loved by Him. Purely.

Our God is a vulnerable, suffering God. Our God suffers with every creature who suffers. Our God suffers when we turn our backs on truth and mercy. Our God seeks us out when we're lost. Why wouldn't God suffer, and why wouldn't God need, if God were genuinely in relationship with creation? This is the real paradox: the existence of relationship between finite and infinite, conditioned and unconditioned being. But why should you think that God's reality should fit inside your little head? Why shouldn't reality be paradoxical? Who told it you it was all neat, rational and analysable? Read some quantum physics and chaos theory.

God will always be God even if we do not love him or give him attention.

But if we do not love him or give him attention even in our own simple way of doing things, which we have to do out of love, then the life that we live will not be worth living. We have to love God by loving the people and all creations of God around us. Our souls will burn and will never experience true happiness if we neglect that.

He does not need anything from us. God is not arrogant either. However, He does deserve our love and respect. He made us and furthermore loves us and gave His only Son to save us even though we deserved to be destroyed right on the spot. He wants us to be able to live with Him forever and wants us to have joy in Him as He has joy in us.

god does not need our love, we need his love and acceptance to gain our way into heaven.

God is not some poor homeless child that needs us and he is not arrogant.

Interesting question!

I think that if we are created in God's image, and we need love - that God would need our love as well.

God doesn't need our love anymore than our parents need love from their children. Just because they could survive without it, however, doesn't make them any more pleased to do so.

It is arrogant to want to be loved? Since when?

Does He need it? I don't know, I doubt it. Does He want it? Very much so!
