I'm only 19 and I want to take my girlfriend to the musical because she is in love with it, i'm gonna be taking a sick *** car to the show and i'm guessing dress nice because its in some big theatre in san francisco, and since i'm not really a sophisticated guy, i was hoping someone could maybe advise me as to what to wear, maybe act, how to walk, talk, you know, what rich snobby people do =)

I've gone to Rent in a variety of outfits - from EXTREMELY dressed up to wearing the same clothes I'd been wearing for the last two days [after I slept outside for that long for tickets]. I promise you, it will not matter. Some people dress up for the theatre, some don't.

Trust me, no one at Rent will care what you wear. The crowd there is so eclectic, its wonderful.

Personally, next time I go see Rent, my guy friends will probably wear black pants or jeans, if they don't have nice black pants, and a shirt they might wear to school, but probably not a t-shirt.

Like I said though, really, anything goes.

Depends on which country you are coming from.

In Singapore, we get away with smart casual (prob a long sleeve casual *not your usual biz shirts* and jeans).

Just be yourself and be polite. Most importantly, be sincere. I think that makes all the difference.

Khaki pants, the kind that waiters wear in most restuants and a shirt that buttons up in the front and is fairly new.

rent a tux, u cant go wrong with that. i've been to the nutcracker once, it sucked. u should act calm, and like u wanna impress everyone. walk with good posture, and talk maybe witha british accent, lol. dont say "y'all" or "ain't" and stuff like hill-billy-ish.
