This answer is in response to your question posted on yahoo.
From what you have told me, it sounds like the person for whom you are referring to was either on some kind of amphetamine (crystal, crank, methamphetamine or crack cocaine).
There are no other drugs that I am aware of that would cause these signs and symptoms.
The person could also have bipolar disorder (manic-depression) and could be what is called a "rapid cycler". These patients can be manic one minute and the next day they crash and sleep for days.
