It's not real tactful but are they correct or not? If what they said was true, ya can't be angry...if you are and you don't like it, then fix it...if what they said is not true, then let them know you disagree and leave it at that...

Thick in the waist is just that...a person who is a size 6 but doesn't have a defined waist could be considered 'thick in the waist"...

They might be telling you to lay off the beer. Maybe someone is trying to help you control the little bit of love handles that you have and they don't want them getting out of control.
