For my wedding, I would like to have several wine glasses each with colored sand and a tag matching the sand color. Next to the wine glasses I would like a big container and have each guest pour a color sand that they like into it and fill out the tag with a nice note. I don't plan on doing a lot of different colors, just like 5 or so. I guess I just don't want everyone to think its stupid, so just let me know what you think.

While this sounds really creative and nice to involve the guests, your suggestion interprets the meaning of "unity" into a very different direction.

Used in weddings, unity sand or candles symbolize the unity of you and your husband - not you and your husband and all your guests.

It is a different idea. But remember whatever you want is up to you. The sand thing seems like it would take time from you and your groom because people will be filling glasses with sand. The day should be about you.

You're involving the guests by having them there, aren't you? What would you do with the sand afterwards? I like the note part - but it's your wedding. Do what makes you happy.

I like it, it is very original for a wedding as far as I am concerned. My sister had everyone tie dye shirts at her shower the night before. But like someone else said, you might have a bit of a cleanliness issue on your hands. Just check for those types of issues as well.

I think it sounds like a good idea. It's different, but what happends when someone spills their sand all over the floor.

I like it anyway!
