1 stick of butter, about 3 cups powdered sugar ( this can be controlled by you, depending on how thick you want the frosting. So add it slowly while stirring in between, and add as much as you want) and a little vanilla.
If you want chocolate, then add a little cocoa powder in place of some of the powdered sugar.
Taste it as you go to come up with combination that works best for you.

It is easy to make, it's just powdered sugar, margarine, liquid, and flavoring.
Vanilla Butter Frosting:
1/3 cup soft margarine
3 cups confectioner's sugar.
1 and 1/2 tsp. vanilla
@ 2 tablespoons of milk
Blend butter and sugar. Stir in vanilla then milk, stir until frosting is the consistency you want, and is free of lumps
Variation: same ingredients, plus cocoa powder, use hot coffee [ I keep instant coffee in the house just for this, you can't tell it's instant in the frosting, but perked is fine, too] as the liquid. My Mom's Mocha Chocolate frosting. Yum. I dump in the cocoa last, and keep stirring it in until I get the color I want. Or do like Betty Crocker says, melt 2 ounces of unsweetened chocolate, cool it some, reducing the sugar to 2 cups. All recipes make enough for a 13x9 pan cake or brownies.
Ever put frosting in between 2 graham cracker squares? Oh, it is good. When you first make them, the grahams are crispy, and really gooey with the soft frosting. Store them in the frig in a plastic baggie, and the graham softens up, and it melts in your mouth. I love Mom's Mocha frosting, but vanilla is good, too.

Orange Butter Cream Frosting:
2 sticks butter
2 1/2 cups powdered sugar
Orange juice
Combine butter and sugar in a medium bowl and mix. Add just enough orange juice to thin the frosting to a spreading consistency.

Call frosty the snowman:) or take egg yorks form whites and seperate them. put eggs in cake mix bater and take egg whites in a mixer. beat til fluffy and add small amount of sugar as you beat it preferable with a hand beater (some women use a husband or bf as an egg beater both work equally well). Spread egg white mix on the cake after you have it cooked.
