Polaroid LCDs are outsourced from XOCECO which stands for Xiamen Overseas Chinese Electronics Company. They also market their own brand which is Prima. XOCECO is a state-own company. Check here for the manufacturer: http://www.xoceco.com.cn/eweb/index.asp and here for the U.S. subsidiary Prima North America; http://www.primaamerica.com

Polaroid does not make TVs. It is one of the names that was bought up when the recognized name brand company had financial troubles, like Sansui, Bell and Howell and KLH to name a few. It is probably a house brand for an electronics store chain. The TVs that bear the Poloroid name will most likely be a more cheaply made TV. Try to stick to a name brand. They are easier to get serviced and they are more likely to work with multi brand universal remote controls.
