AMEN to that.. I think that the world is starting to listen to non-smokers. I know the hospital I work in just went tobacco free. There is no where on any campus or parking lot that people can smoke. If you want to smoke you have to punch out and take your car to an off site area to smoke. I say AMEN. maybe if it is made so inconvienient people will stop. maybe if people are looked at as disgusting rather then cool, which it was some 50+ years ago, the trend will turn. I thin kwe have made a great progress and there is no where to go but forward from here. I see people on a regular basis who are living proof that cigarettes kill. It is not a pleasent death by any means.

Ok, for one, I don't smoke around my children. Secondly, I don't put lit cigarette butts in the trash can. I do care about my health, smoking is something I started as a teenager and have been trying to quit ever since. Lastly, is there a question here, or are you just ranting? I'll make a deal with you: I'll quit smoking when you quit being judgemental.

Whoa, easy there. I understand your frustration, I am not a smoker either. I have actually been one who has tried to help with the "smoking cessation" movement, years before the "truth" was ever revealed publicly. What we can do is get the laws changed so that it is illegal to smoke in public areas. Then when we can all breath easier, we can be more sympathetic to those that are addicted to cigarette smoking. What we have to remember is they have years and years of propaganda, advertisement, false "medical" information, and much of Hollywood all promoting the use of cigarettes. So it is a huge paradigm shift that is going to take some time.

Give me a break! The government pushed cigs to people of all ages early on so they could make their multimillions off of us in taxes. If your so worried about your health talk to the politicians who allow pollution to control rather residents can go out with breathing problems or have to stay inside. when we can water our yards and when we can or should fill up the vehicles with gas. There is more pollution driving down the highway for a 15 minute time period than standing beside someone who chainsmokes for a 1/2 an hour non stop.
Plus you are either born to get cancer or you are not. Nothing makes cancer with the exception of over doses of radiation which destroys the immune system...
Heart disease and lung problems are also greatly affected by smog, dust and dirt, sure cigs may add to it but not at the level all of you bleeding hearts like to make everyone think.
This is America and we are supposed to be free to choose what we do with our bodies. Why should your rights be any more important than our's just because we choose to smoke and you do not?
Alcohol has killed far more people than cigarettes ever have. Funny that Congress wants to obliterate smoking even in ones own vehicle but drink til your liver rots out and have 3 or 4 accidents before anything is done punishment wise. Most people are drunk by lunch time or well on their way...I could go on and on but why bother? As I stated earlier GIVE ME A BREAK!!!! At least my cigarettes won't enable me to drive like a nut and crash into some hapless victim killing them and their car load of kids on their way to some smoke-free McDonalds...

You are so right.
We strap ourselves into seatbelts because the law wants to protects us and others. We have our cars inspected for emissions, speed limits for safety for ourselves and others.
You can't let off fireworks due to safety for ourselves and others.

Women are looked down on, and in some states, there are laws against breastfeeding in public.
With all this in mind, cigarettes, a known lethal substance is not only tolerated, but allowed in most states-Why??
I feel sorry for those addicted(my grandfather died young smoked every day)-why does our government allow cigarettes to even be sold.
Something is wrong with this picture and I believe greed is the problem.

non-smokers, why is it that you can't stop bit(hing about smokers....we can't smoke in restaurants anymore, bars are getting to be the same way....and look at California, you can't even smoke outside! anywhere! We have made alot of changes for you, non-smokers! Not by choice. So, leave us alone and if you don't like it, then stay the hell away!

Oh, and by the way...I care about my daughter dearly. I DO NOT smoke in the car with her and I DO NOT smoke around her.

Oh come on....if you're going to ban smokers, then ban automobiles too for their exhaust that we all breathe! this is freaking America and we should be able to smoke if we want to smoke (non smoker here) but not particularly WHERE we want. How about a compromise? No one is telling you not to have that beer, are they?

sassy old broad is right. why not ban everyting. the government wants to be in everyone's business so they can eventurally control the whole world and everything you do. thats what big brothers all about, knowing everything about everyone and controlling our lives so we can have no choices and can't think for ourselves anymore.

Let me guess: you drive a gas-guzzling SUV which spews loads of carbon monoxide in the air?
