My 7 month old golden retriever goes absolutely snakey when she sees me pick up the brush. She spins circles and bites at the brush and flops all around. I think she likes it but it makes it hard to brush her.

One way is to hold her by the collar so you can keep her in place and tell her to sit.

Second way is to exercise her right before so she'll be too tired to think about the brushing.

Third way is to wait until it's night time when she's usually tired and brush her then.

Fourth way is to not make a big deal about it and don't show her it. Just casually sit down next to her and start by petting her, then gradually move to the brush.

But most importantly, you have to be in control and can't let her misbehave when it comes to brushing. She maybe be too excited to sit still and be brushed, so try the above stuff. If she does a good job and behaves, give her some love and/or a treat to let her know she was a good girl.

Very good question. Golden's are awesome dogs, and very playful. Did you know that every dog that has an owner no matter the size should be walked at least 30 minutes a day?. Yes, and my idea is, walk your fur-baby before your going to brush her. This way she will be very calm when you get home, plus it will be a reward for her. All dogs are made of energy, and one way to use some of it up is by walking. Trust me, she'll love you even more when you walk her.

You should be taking her to the groomers every week or two, so the brushing is important, but not super important. Tell her to sit, and if she does, give her a treat. Then brush her. If she doesn't know sit yet, put her on the leash and tie it to a tree and brush her outside.

i would try a different brush that she doesn't recognize, then get her in a small space where you and her feel comfortable,of course still hiding the brush.some treats are always good but her comfort is key.maybe your wire brush hurts her skin-just a guess goldies love to be stroked-gently! try a soft brush to start and make sure your hand is always petting her at the same time.

u need 2 teach her some discipline (srry if i spelled that wrong)

try telling her 2 sit at times so she gets the idea and give her treats when she listens... also compliments will influence her 2 listen more

tell her "no" when she tries 2 bite the brush (try 2 resist her cuteness!)

She needs discipline. You are supposed to be the boss of her, right? Make her "SIT" while you brush her. Teach her some manners now so she is better behaved.

Try holding one of her favorite treats on one hand and tell her to sit and if she is trained well enough she will sit and let you brush her while she is paying more attention to her treat.

You need to teach her to stand, then teach her to stay.I reccomend clicker training. Go to the first link to learn the basics of clicker training and the the second link to learn how to teach specific behaviors like stand and stay.
