I got help and it didn't work. I just need love to make me better. Its no joke, I think everybody knows that deep down. But it looks like I'm not going to get it.

The bottom of the depression is being cut off completly from the two girls i have ever loved. The cure would be to be freinds with either of them. They both refuse friendship but left me saying they cared and loved me and wanted to stay freinds. I havn't a clue what they are up to now, if they had boyfriends and I met them it would cure me instantly. if they didn't and I met them saw that they nolonger felt anything that to would instantly cure me but they won't do it. There is nothing I can do. The worst thing is everyone thinks that I should just get over it and that they are the ones doing the right thing by not seeing me.

I feel like its unacceptable to be broken hearted in todays cold hearted fast moving world. But that is exactly what I am, maybe I should just be open about it but there is so much stigma attached these days. People are expected to love and move on as if nothing happened I think its crazy.

People who suffer with depression are not lunatics as mentioned in an earlier answer. The thing is that depression hits one in four of us sometimes in our life. And, yes, it can be a big turn off mainly because the other person does not know how to handle it. Those in a long term relationship find they have more compassion and understanding towards a partner or friend who is suffering from depression than those in a short term relationship. Afterall would you commit to caring for someone you hardly know.
Anyone who is suffering from depression should seek help from a medical practioner in the first instance. The right medication can help, believe me I know. And love and passion can blossom again if someone cares enough. And you will come out of the experience a stronger person and have a greater understanding of yourself.
Are you receiving any help, if you can try for cognitive therapy it is the only way to confront those demons. It may take a long time but you will see that light at the end of the tunnel. I will think about you. Take care now and eat properly.

Sorry, but it's a pretty big turnoff...I know depression is a serious issue, and people with mental illness shouldn't be penalized for it, but bottom line is depressed people can be difficult to get close to and be around a lot...it takes someone with a lot of compassion and patience to be the partner of a depressed person...

If your partner is genuine then they will stay will you through whatever you are going through and help you. I suppose it will show you how genuine they are. There are some nice people out there who care and are willing to see the light at the end of the tunnel for you. I hope you find the right person for you soon.

forget about relationships, try marriage. OCD and depression wrecked my first marriage.
I went on meds and sort of survived my second marriage, but the depressive mood swings were too much for my ex.
Depression is a definite turn off. Even if one of the partners is understanding, it's really hard on them.

As a manic-depressive myself it is a real turn-off to me. People who don't understand it berate the person who suffers with the symptoms every day of their life. I take 26 pills a day to stay happy. However, one nice comment lights up my life for days.

Damn it! There I was, moping around and pondering the futility of my existence, thinking it was the best way to score! Maybe I'll try being happy and successful next week, see if I get any more action...

Its a turn-off. Nobody wants their energy drained by some misery-guts.
Get some pharmaceutical assistance and climb the spiral-staircase the other way.

I have a friend whose wife is a suicidal maniac.
It seems that depression is a MAJOR turn-off.
And don't think you can change a lunatic, because you generally can't.
