Hey everybody it is not illegal for a 13 or 14 yr. old to date an older guy 17 or 18 or even 30. It may seem strange, but as long as they do not have sex IN ANY FORM it is not illegal. If the guy did some heavy making out then he could be charged with contributing to the delinqency of a minor. There are couples that are married and have been for 20 to 30 years that are 10years apart in age.

The younger one has to be very mature for their age or it will not work. Patience is a key, if neither is not willing to wait at least 2years to start dating one or both are too immature to make it work

No it is against the law.

Anyone under the age of 15 is considered a child in the eyes of the law regarding issues of sexuality. So 17/18 is too mature for 15, let alone 13/14.

It may not seem like such a big deal, but I was in the position myself. When you are the younger person it is very flattering.

But consider this. Why would the older person want to date someone so much younger? You think it must be because you are so wonderful and cool...

But, even if it was the COOLEST person on earth, would you date a 10 year old?

You might think...eww gross 10 years old is "just a little kid"...but to most NORMAL18 years old that is what they think of 14 year olds.

So at 18 they should want to date someone there own age, if they don't it is kind of weird in a bad way. Just like if you actually wanted to date a 10 year old it would be bad in a gross way.

Stay pure, you will thank yourself later. It is actually a really wise decision.

No. He should not be allowed to date a minor child. It will be different when the girl turns 18 if he is still interested in dating her.
Those ages are incompatible for good outcomes because the 18 year old will have different interests and life goals from those of the child of 14. The answer is NO unless the parents are involved in most of the decision making in that relationship and give their consent to it.

Normally minded 17/18 year olds are seriously creeped out at the thought of dating someone 13/14. That's NOT normal.

Ok, the guys above are wrong, it's not illegal to DATE.

It is, however, very STUPID, not to put too sharp a point on it.

Sugar, I'm not saying you're stupid for having feelings for this guy. What I am saying, however, is that there is NOTHING that this boy could have in common with you, or want from you except sex, and my dear, THAT IS illegal.

You are young. If you really, really, like him, and he feels the same, then he will wait. If he goes off to college, he will have a new life, and it will be very hard to keep a relationship going. Strong feelings often lead to sex, I'm sure you know. But sex is not a tool to use. It would be wrong of you to do it, to try to keep him with you, and it would be wrong of him, because you ARE so young, and because it could land him in jail, among many other reasons.

Keep in mind....if he likes you, he will wait to date you, etc, etc.

PS>>and the person just below me has NOOO idea what they are saying. Using protection does not make it ok for a 14 or 15 year old to have sex! Even if it worked (which it doesn't always), and she didn't get pregnant or catch a disease that could kill her, there are EMOTIONAL issues that will stick with her, her entire life.

No No and No. Not cool at all. Is this guy interested in you because if he is, he's defenitely got some weird problems. This means nothing mean about you, it's just that you are still a child legally. Just go for a 15 yr old instead.

No you should not be able to date someone who by the law is an adult. Besides getting yourself hurt and a good chance getting him in jail you are too young to know what you really want or need in life or a relationship.

Please, no. You may say that a relationship between the two of you would be mature and loving, but really, it won't be. A boy that age has only one thing on his mind. Even if he does truly care about you, dating him isn't the right thing. Besides, you are very, very young and dating shouldn't be a priority. You'll find the right guy in time.
