The grapefruit diet is when you have 2 pieces of bacon for bf any two eggs any style and 1/2 grape fruit or 4oz juice which ever you prefer. for lunch your to eat a salad any type of meat and grapefruit for dinner any kind of meat and Green veggies or a salad and grape fruit juice and for a snack tomato juice or skim milk. I actually did this about a year ago and the weight fell off but I got off of it and started eating crazy again and gain the weight back. But I'm back on it now but yeah it does work and you see results very quick. Good luck and with any diet you need to drink plenty of water and exercise

Oddly enough, while this diet is aimed at lowering your cholesterol, if you are taking one of the statin drugs, you can't drink, nor eat, grapefruit. and I love it.
However, I think the main purpose is, the juice makes you full, or, it makes you feel full so you eat less..

I am currently using a meal plan from a dietician at the VA since I found out that I am prediabetic and have lost 20 pounds in a month.

Juices are high in natural sugars. Don't eat lots of fruit to lose weight. It's not as effective as people think. However, you tend t eat less fruit than say chips. Therefore, it reduces your calorie intake because you're not eating as much. Fruit juices have all the sugars but not all the fibers and other nutrients from the skin of some fruit.
