Peace Corps pays for all living expenses, health and dental, plane tickets, etcetera, and you receive vacation time during your 27 months of service.

You will receive $6,000 upon completion of your service to be used as you please.

The first three months of your service are composed of intensive language and culture training in your country of service (you will probably be fluent at the end of this training) and training in the area of service to which you are assigned. The areas of service health, HIV/AIDS, education, community development, business development, agriculture, and information technology. HIV/AIDS work is often incorporated into other areas of service.

The minimum age to join Peace Corps is 18 and there is no maximum age (you must be in good health).

The application process takes from 9-12 months before you receive an assignment, so keep that in mind if you apply.

There is probably a recruiter in your area who can tell you more about Peace Corps and you can find them (as well as additional information) at peacecorps.gov.

Hope this helps!

It's volunteer, but you'll receive a living allowance. You have to be at least 18 yrs old. Official Peace Corps link below to answer all your questions and to find out more information.

As of a few years ago, you do not get a salary while in it, but after your commitment period (~ 2 years), you get a couple thousand dollars or so when you get out to help you get established again. I'm sure you can easily search for Peace Corps online and find the official site to learn more. It's not that easy to get into either...many interviews and psychological screenings.

its volunteer work and it can be very physically demanding, you have to undergo a battery of physical exams as well as physical fitness tests, but if you love what you are doing then you'll feel it's totally worth it to you
