There "ain't" no such thing! As far as I'm concerned there are no all around best breeds just like there are no all around best people. Not to long ago a guy named Hitler thought he could breed the best people and he annihilated millions of people to prove it.

Depends on your needs. Big dog, small one? I have had a lot of dogs. Partial to Dobermans myself but some folks hate them. Their smart dogs but bull headed. Best breed of all though is a mix from the pound or humane society. NO, really. They have fewer health problems due to over/in-breeding and generally have better personalities than pure bred dogs Whichever you choose, if you go with a pure bred dog, check BOTH parents papers back THREE generations to make sure no one was related. People can fake paperwork but it's better than just buying a dog without checking. Most pure breeds have inherent genetic risks. Pick a dog and research what those may be. (ex: Dobies are prone to hemophelia, Boxers, prone to cancer)

I have had many breeds and loved them all.
But now I think that I have finally figured out the best breed of all -
SHIH TZU's are my favorite. They are a great big dog in a little package. They have it all -
They don't shed (how great is it when you are wearing black, to pick up a light colored dog and not have ANY hair left behind on your clothing when you put him down???),
they are friendly to humans and other animals, (usually),
they have lots of energy and love to play, they live a long time (average of 15 years), and are usually healthy, they are easy to bathe and keep clean - just pick them up and put them in a sink, (if you keep them groomed, they don't get tangles in their fur),
they don't bark much, but most importantly, they are so sweet and lovable and fun to spoil!
Some possible negative points are that due to their short snout, some of them snore (I think it's cute), and they cannot take the heat very well. They cannot be kept outside. They love people, and hate to be alone. If you work all day, you need two of them to keep each other company. Also, all dogs who have flat faces may have problems under anesthesia.

The smartest dog breed actually rebounds between the poodle and the border collie. But most would agree that a mixed breed dog tends to be the most hearty of all breeds. There are a lot of inbreeding in pure bred dogs.

My dog is the best dog in the world! I think Labs and Sibes are the best all things considered. It's really a matter of personal preference though as well as your experience level with dogs.

That depends on what are you looking for in a dog. Some dogs are best for guarding but worst for kids to play with. Some are very active and others are quiet and lazy. You need to do some homework before getting a dog. Get somthing that will suit your lifestyle.
