I have been a dog groomer for 13 years, and the best shampoo is subject to opinion. Shampoos heavy in conditioners will weigh the fur down so it isn't standing up fluffy like a pom should, but still neccessary to make grooming easy. Bio Groom Herbal Groom Conditioning Shampoo Tearless for Dogs and Cats is an excellent product, and I usually gives the results you are looking for with your dog breed. Never use human shampoos on animals. They contain perfumes and other chemicals that are not suited for them. They can actually cause the animal to create skin allergies or reactions. I know some people use them and not have troubles, but please take my advise. Human shampoos and conditioners really cause a lot of skin ailments in dogs and could cause you a trip to the vet if the problem is persistant. Seen it happen more times that I like to remember. Poms are notorious for getting skin conditions as well, especially when they get older. Consider this when purchasing your shapoo for your little one. As for the curly parts, some poms have that when they are young and grow out of it, others have it hteir whole life. a trip to the groomers and a little trim will correct it, or youcan consider it a part of his/her character. ;) Just like humans, some dogs hair has weird quirks.

I'd use an oatmeal based shampoo--cleaning power with conditioning too.

As for the curly ends in some spots--don't know. In humans, split ends would be the cause of that. Maybe he needs a haircut?

i raised pomeranians all my life they are very hardy spitz bred dogs. there is no special shampoo etc. i always bathed mine only when they neede it allowing their coat to acquire the essential oils that it needs, just like our hair you can over shampoo,i think good brushing habits are much more important!

Oatmeal based and bath every two weeks. This won't dry the dogs skin out as much.
