I get asked at least once every other month. When I hit 40 in two months, I think I'll have to start hugging the clerks. Would that be /too/ friendly?

It makes me feel great - I'm not complaining...

I'm 32, and I honestly, I get annoyed by carding. I may look 26-27 or so, but definitely not 20 years old or younger. I don't want to look that young. I don't dress up like I am. People should learn how to recognize age better in a person's face by paying more attention to those around them and those of different ages, races, styles, etc.. It's a hassle for everyone when you are dealing with a line or checking out. Oh well, in a few years, our identities will be verified through some electronic device during every door entry or purchase so it won't be an issue at any age.

Don't hug clerks, but bouncers, maybe, if you find it so flattering.

In my 20s I'd get really annoyed because I've always looked young for my age, but now, and it still happens sometimes, I feel like hugging the clerk. LOL

Try being carded (Canadians' way of saying "showing your ID") every time you turn around at Casino Niagara!!!

However, ever since an unseemly coworker asked me if I'm 29 (I'm 22!!!! and look like I'm 16!!!!! -- according to most people, not the least of which are the Casino employees), I've started to feel flattered, much like you.

Hope it lasts a couple more years!

If you get carded at 39 I'd already be hugging and kissing the clerks. LOL If that happened to be at 53 I'd ask them how long it had been since they'd had their eyes examined.

I'm giddy like a school girl. I'm 38 years old and when someone asks for my ID, they think I"m younger. I always tell the clerk "You made my day!"

I'm 44 - I've only hugged someone once for asking (I was on my way into a VERY young club), but I do always thank them and flash my best smile.

usually i'm shocked, i'm 22 but somedays depending on my attire i look about 18! i wonder how many underage kids go to that store and get away with liquor!

i once was got into a line and the lady hadn't carded anyone in the line prior to me, but once i got in she started carding everyone, including a gentleman who was clearly 70+ she just shrugged and said, i have to with everyone. the man laughed and said, "ya know that's funny, where i'm from, when you're gray your okay!" but when i got to her she had the look like i wasn't going to be old enough, but i was. and her facial expression turned sour.

Well it depends. If it's cigarettes I get alittle testy. If it's alcohol well I hate to hold up a line. But you go girl! Give them a hug- you still look 21!

That might be a little over the top... especially when you consider how many not-well-balanced people there are in the world. Good luck, stay safe... oh yeah... and Happy Birthday.

I'm 34 and I feel like hugging them every time it happens. It is extra nice since I have been going gray since I was sixteen (like my distant cousin Taylor Hicks). May God bless and keep you.
